Flaunting with large 10.1 inches LCD capacitive touch screen display, the users who have bought this tablet via the Rogers in Canada, they can update starting from today. Iconia Tab A501 in the A500 series of tablet by Acer featuring the built in mobile data connectivity. This update has been rolled out via the Over the Air update and we recommend Tab A501 owner to download this update to their tablet PC as this comes with a great list of improvement & enhancements.

Its interesting to see that since a long time and until now Acer site still says that there is no update has been planned to the Android 4.0 ICS for the Iconia Tab A501. Several users for Canada region has reported successfully porting to the Android 4.0.3 today. However since there is no official confirmation from Acer about this major roll out, there is no list of improvements and enhancements has been officially released. Sporting 1 Ghz dual core processor for NVIDIA, Iconia Tab 501 is certainly a competitor to Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet. Since porting to Android 3.2 Honeycomb last year, this is one of the major update to any of the Iconia Tablet and we might be assuming that as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has received update, Acer might have thought to finally update their oldest tablet ever.

If you are the owner of A501 tablet bought from Rogers, then you should go through Menu > Settings and then force for a check to the software update, by tapping on Update Now option. I am sure you will find some sweet treatment.

  1. Oct 7th 2012 I get tired of these FALSE Kudos for Roger’s and their Android ICS updates. I purchased an Acer 501A a year ago and todate all I see on the web is that ICS has been released for this device, yet when I talk directly to Rogers they have no knowledge of when they or if they will ever release ICS for the ACER 501A tablet. I am seroiusly looking for a legal way to drop this 3 yr contract with a company that seems to have no serious committment to the customer. I have been a Roger’s customer for over 16yrs. If this website is really truthfull they need to check the source (Roger’s) and state who they talked to (thereby holding them responsible) before they state things as facts.

  2. No update still from Rogers in Ontario. And Acer support still says they have not released the update anywhere in the world yet.

  3. Still not seeing any updates from Rogers here in Ontario. Wonder where those who have got it are located and where they purchased their a501 units from. I was very disappointed that the promised upgrade has been so grudgingly released.
