Best Alternatives to Android browser – Apps to Download

Android phones come with a default browser, the one which has most of what a regular and normal user would need. It has the multiple windows, a separate downloads section, and lot of options for zooming in-out, and many basic features but when you have a strong smartphone with the Android OS, would you settle for those little features and not have something better, powerful and a browser that users would want to compare a little with the browsers of the larger tablet devices and the laptops.

Here are some of the Android browser alternatives, that you could download from the Android market.

Firefox for Android

One of the favorite browsers for a big percentage of PC users, would be enough strong and productive as its come for the Android phones. The features of the Firefox app for Android include syncing, where it would be showing the same browser history, bookmarks, saved passwords in all the devices which you want to sync. Personas would make the browser look better, and you can enjoy the tabbed browsing with multiple tabs opened at the same time. What the social users would like about the browser is the social sharing, where the browsed websites can be shared with friends on the social networks like Facebook, Twitter etc.

Firefox for Android  Firefox for Android tabs  Firefox for Android Bookmarks

The other normal features of the browser include the good speed, the bookmarking option by just swyping the finger to left so that you get the option to bookmark. The browser automatically searches and locates you to make things better while searching, and you get the location based search.

Firefox for Android Preferences  Firefox for Android Preferences  Firefox for Android Add-ons

The Firefox for Android browser can be called one of the advanced browsers for the Android OS, with the add-ons too which can be installed and make the productivity and experience a lot better. You could add the integrated searches, but more add-ons would reduce the load speed and use some extra memory on the phone. You could select whether to show images or not, enable or disable the javascript loading on the web page etc.

Some scores from html5test.com. Opera Mobile: 369; Dolphin HD: 189; Skyfire: 189; Android Browser: 189. It’s interesting that the last three all score the same. Presumably they use the same engine. Can someone post scores for Firefox Mobile and Chrome Mobile Beta?

Firefox for Android can’t be used on low end and some mid level devices (eg Galaxy Ace) with the Arm V6 processor. It needs the Arm V7. A much better option is Opera Mobile.

      Hi,

Did you try out the Firefox? It should usually work on all the phones. If it doesn’t you must try out the Chrome beta.

Opera mini is the best and compatible with most android phones. Chrome and Firefox aren’t.
