Asus Zenfone C Hands-On and Quick Review

Asus Zenfone C hands on (1) The Budget smartphone market in India is filled with the plethora of devices. Every manufacturer is bringing the new devices with decent specs, features at the budget price. Xiaomi, Lenovo, and Huawei are selling thousands of budget smartphones in flash sales in India. Now, Asus has brought the Asus Zenfone C (ZC451CG) which is the latest smartphone in the C series at the budget price. It was announced last month and comes with the Intel processor. Zenfone C is competitively priced at Rs 5,999 for the Indian market.

Specifications:

Asus Zenfone C features a 4.5 inch display with 854 x 480 pixels. It is powered by Intel Atom Z2520 1.2GHz Dual Core processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU. With 1GB of RAM, this device also comes with the 8GB of internal memory along with the expandable slot of 64GB. The smartphone runs on KitKat 4.4 Android OS and Zen UI.

On camera front, this device comes with the 5MP of rear facing camera with LED Flash and f/2.0 aperture along with the 0.3MP of front facing camera. This device comes with the 10.9 mm of thickness along with 149 grams of weight.

Hardware & Design:

Except for the screen size, The Asus Zenfone C is almost identical to Asus Zenfone 4. The Zenfone C is very comfortable to hold and use. The 4.5-inch screen is easily accessible with just a thumb. The front panel sports a camera, earpiece on the top, Asus branding, capacitive buttons for home, back and recent apps. The buttons does not have the backlight.

The rear panel is curved, and the back cover is made up of plastic. The volume rocker and on/off switch are on the right side of the phone.

Software:

Asus Zenfone C (9) The Asus Zenfone C runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Zen UI. The user interface is pretty fluid, and I didn’t notice any lags during usage. The user interface is smooth compared to usual Android handsets in the similar category. You will get some of the Asus’s own apps pre-installed in the device, including Part link, PC Link, Remote Link, Share Link, Splendid, AudioWizard and WebStorage. There are also 3rd party apps such as Amazon Kindle, Zinio and Clean Master.

There is a quick setting menu that you can access by scrolling down from the top of any screen.You can turn on the location, WiFi, Bluetooth with easy taps.

Initial Impressions

Asus Zenfone C is a great budget range smartphone. Though, you might want to wait for 2nd Gen Moto E, as it already has been announced and will be available on Flipkart shortly. This was our Hands-On and Quick Review. We will be using this device for few days before coming up with a full review.
