It was quite a disappointment for the HTC One X and One X+ users recently when the company said that they won’t be sending any updates to Android 4.3 or 4.4 to these both phones, but that doesn’t mean the updates are totally going to be stopped. The HTC One X+ on AT&T is going to receive an OTA update next week, and this update would be to the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean version. This was the message put up by the HTC team:
We can confirm that the HTC One X and One X+ will not receive further Android OS updates beyond Android 4.2.2 with Sense 5. We realize this news will be met with disappointment by some, but our customers should feel confident that we have designed both devices to be optimized with our amazing camera and audio experiences.
So, the Android 4.2.2 with the Sense 5 is coming soon, and the users should feel quite happy about it as they are going to see a different interface with a lot of changes. The standard features that you would see changed will be the Blinkfeed, Video Highlights, a new Camera interface and the updated apps like People, Gallery, Music and Calendar. Although there’s a lot that you see from the later devices like the HTC One, a feature that would be missing is the HTC Zoe which would allow the users to capture photos and videos at the same time with the camera.
There is no actual date given, and AT&T has tweeted:
AT&T One X+ users – We have received technical acceptance from AT&T today. Expect the OTA update to OS 4.2.2 + Sense 5 later this week.
So, we would let you know whenever the HTC One X+ is being sent the OTA update with the Android 4.2.2, with the instructions on how you can proceed with the installation. As for the other variants, it is just the HTC Evo 4G LTE on Sprint which is going to get the Android 4.3 update later on, but there is no confirmed date for that too.
