How to Capture Screenshot in Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Version after Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Update

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 has started receiving the Jelly Bean update at many places, and after the 4.1.1 update its not just the appreciation, but even the complains from several users who couldn’t do the most basic function that was available from the Android ICS version by default – Capturing screenshots. The feature which was present earlier with the touchscreen itself, but now after receiving a lot of feedback from the users, Samsung changed the feature and made it hidden where one cannot very easily capture a screenshot, but still there is a possibility to do so. The only problem earlier was within the apps where sometimes the bottom bar wouldn’t come up and the screenshot was not possible.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Android 4.1.1 Update

The update to Android 4.1.1 is sent OTA to the devices, and if that didn’t happen to your device, you can check for the update manually too. That can be done by going to the Settings section and in that, go to About Device in the bottom and there you may open the first option “Software update”. If there is no update, well and good, you just need to wait. If there is an update available or if you have already updated the Galaxy Tab 2 to the 4.1.1 version you may notice that the Screenshot icon in the bottom bar is gone.

Here’s how you can capture screenshots in the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 version after the Jelly Bean 4.1.1 update:

Hold the Power Key and Volume Down key together and keep them pressed for more than 3 seconds.

You might notice that screen gets locked and turned off while doing that because you are pressing the power key, but the functionality doesn’t end there as holding both the keys together for sometime would capture the screenshot.

We know that this is not a good way to capture the screen and there should have been something easier from Samsung, but at least you got an option rather than paying for the applications which would do the same job. This one really works, and you just need to have patience and wait while holding both the keys. Remember, the two keys have to be pressed at the same time, and not simultaneously.

Do share us with any other way if you found out while trying out the many options, apart from the one we shared.

This update is ridiculous, i have to do the simultaneous button push several times before the screensave (sometimes) works. I wish I could downgrade To the old version !

I just got 4.2.2 update. Still no screenshoot button. Email doesn’t update anymore. Everything changed. Im about to throw out this tablet. Can’t they just fix performance and not mess with gui. Oh weather widget sux (I can’t just switch between citys on the widget, I need to open the app). Also the two languages that I have installed on keyboard are showing up in the word suggestion bar. All this updates are super annoying, and look more like bugs. Like with keyboard. Now I don’t need the globe button and it does not need to tell me what language im typing in on space bar if it’s mixing them both. This plain sux. Super pissed. Now im not going to trust any updates.

I have a Samsung galaxy s2 that was updated to jelly bean two days ago. Prior to the update we had to press and hold the home and power buttons at the same time. Since, I’ve tried that way and the power and volume down combo quite a few times and neither worked. The volume down/power buttons just turned my phone off every time. I’ve been searching for other options, but I’ve come up pretty empty.

I prefered having the screenshot icon in ICS. Another things that is missing is the ability to draw or write text over your screenshot once you’ve taken it …. does anyone know how to do this now with the JB update, or has that ability been lost too?
