Disable New Apps Shortcut on Home Screen of Honeycomb Tablets

Android HoneycombIt’s quite good that Honeycomb tablets have several home screen just like our mobile does have which are powered by Google Android operating system. But with the stock Honeycomb 3.0 on your tablets there might be few apps which you prefer less and rarely required and it automatically adds the shortcuts for newly installed apps on your home screen. Such apps are not worth to be placed on the home screen; moreover all those apps would make your home screen just like the app screen page. If you are wondering how to remove those then you are here for the right information.

Here is the procedure on how to disable adding of shortcuts on Home Screen of all the Honeycomb tablets. This applies to all the tablets which are powered by Google Honeycomb operating system like Galaxy Tab, Acer Iconia Tab, Asus Transformer, etc.,.

  1. Open Android Market on your tablet.Honeycomb Home Screen
  2. Now click on ‘My Apps’ located on the top right of Market.Honeycomb App Area
  3. Now again you need to click on the top right button on the screen which will further give you options.
  4. As you see in the below screenshot there are two options – Notify about app updates and Add shortcut for new apps which are default ticked.Honeycomb App Widget
  5. You just need to untick ‘Add shortcut for new apps’.

So, that it, it will now not place any shortcut icon your favorite Honeycomb tablet home screen. Importantly, you can drag and trash the previously shortcuts from your homescreen too.
