Fixes is the trend now in Android and on the similar lines now an all new Android handset powered with the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0, Galaxy nexus too has received an unofficial bug fix. So, for all Galaxy Nexus users who are facing issues with the Volume, here it is a fix for the Volume woes. It was earlier pointed towards a hardware bug but thanks to the Software which fixed this to a most extent. Please note that this fix is still not made officially available and is the unofficial way to fix the volume bug. As per the developer of this fix, paul from MoDaCo, this fix is still in the beta stages and over the next coming few days you will be able to see a better and modified version of Volume fix which will be much more efficient than the current one. Just in case if you have decided to proceed with applying this one then don’t forget to back up your data as the boot loader unlock will be required to install the fix as it will wipe all the data which is there in the phone memory of Galaxy Nexus. SMS – Backup SMS using SMS Backup & Restore,
Contacts – Sync with Gmail so that the same can be restored,
Call Log - Call Log and Restore
Videos, Images, Videos & Files etc.– Copy to internal / External SD Card,
Internet & MMS Settings – Backup all the settings from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”

Procedure to Fix Volume Bug in Galaxy nexus:
- Before proceeding, you need to download the Volume Bug Fix Zip package from here to your computer and then you need to turn Off the phone. After downloading, you also need to extract the same to a folder preferably to the desktop so that you can easily locate the same.
- After this, you need to “Press the Volume Up Key + Volume Down Key” in the turn Off mode to enter into the Boot loader mode. Now, once you enter into the boot loader mode you will then have to connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase.
- Once you connect the phone to the computer, you now need to choose from the below mentioned options for the respective operating systems.
For Windows – Double click on the “install-windows.bat” file and then it will process the fix automatically,
For MAC Users – Open the terminal window and type in the command as ‘chmod +x install-mac.sh’ followed by ‘./install-mac.sh’
For Linux Users – Open the terminal window to the directory which contains the files and type ‘chmod +x install-linux.sh’ followed by ‘./install-linux.sh’
