Wanna have WhatsApp app with Voice calling feature? WhatsApp will soon be announcing the launch of an all new version of app which will not only be roping in the voice calling feature but also will be bringing the new user interface. This new update also comes with a punch of material design and works on the devices which are on Android 2.1 and above. After the acquisition of WhatsApp by facebook, it seems like it will be the next biggest growth driver for the company. While this new app has still not made up to the Google Play Store, you can very well download and install the same with the help of a link mentioned at the end of this article.
The only catch here is that the voice calling will only work as of now if your device is on Android 4.4 and above OS. While it’s still unclear on whether WhatsApp will support the voice calling on the lower versions of android or not, we hope in coming updates to come this will be supported even to the devices which are on Gingerbread 2.3+.
A reddit user, Tropiux has mentioned that its not a compulsion to get an invite to start using the calling feature. Just go to the terminal and hit the below mentioned command in the device which has got the rooting privileges;
am start -n com.whatsapp/com.whatsapp.HomeActivity
Unfortunately, you will have to do this every time you want to make an outgoing call. Post enabling, just call to a user who has the WhatsApp’s calling feature app to get voice calling feature permanently enabled. While this drama of feature only being available to selected users is here to stay only until the app comes to Google Play Store, you can very well download and install this app in your Android smartphone.
