Fix Galaxy S Wifi Disconnection & Poor Coverage Issue on XXJVS 2.3.5
For all those who have recently installed the latest version of XXJVS Gingerbread 2.3.5 and if you are facing issues on Wi Fi then we will guide you in solving the same. Please note that before you proceed for the fix for the Wi Fi, you should ensure that your phone is on the XXJVS 2.3.5 firmware and also please note that you should also root the phone. For your simple understanding, we have also mentioned the simple to understand procedure which you need to follow before proceeding to the next set of instructions. Please note that its only recommended to follow the below procedure if and only if you are facing issues with the Wi Fi on your Samsung Galaxy S phone powered with XXJVS 2.3.5 firmware.
Procedure to update Galaxy S GT I9000 with Gingerbread XXJVS 2.3.5,
Procedure to Root Galaxy S GT I9000 on Gingerbread XXJVS 2.3.5
Disclaimer : In the due process of this fix, you will have to root your phone which will void the warranty, not to worry the warranty can be reclaimed as soon as you update with any of the Stock firmware version like XXJVS, XXJVP etc. as it will revoke the root access.
Procedure to Fix the Wi Fi on Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000:
- After updating Samsung Galaxy S to XXJVS firmware and rooting the same from the above links, you will now have to proceed to download the XXJVS Wi-Fi Rooting Fix Package in your computer. Please note that in the process of the unzipping you will be prompted to enter the password, enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without inverted comas.
- Once the zip file is downloaded, extract the same to your desktop after which you will see that there are two Zip files as shown in the below screen shot.
- With the help of the USB cable, just connect the phone with the computer and then you need to copy these two zip files which you have got upon unzipping as it is to your phone. Please note that don’t place these files deep inside any folders in your phone.
- After this you will have to remove the connected USB cable which is connected with the phone and then simply turn Off the phone so that you can then enter your phone in the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. You can refer the below mentioned video on how you can enter into the recovery mode.
- Now in the recovery mode, you will have to choose the option of “install zip from SD card” and then “choose zip from sdcard” after which it will show all the zip files which are present in your phone along with other files. But from the list of files, you need to select the file which is named as “1WifiFix” first and after updating with this you will need to select the file “2WifiFixJVS” and update the same.
Now, as soon as you apply both of these zip files, you will now have to reboot the phone and after that it’s done, your Wi Fi will run without any issues. Do let us know if you still face any issues with your Wi Fi connectivity in the comments section below as we will try to solve them as soon as possible.

is there a chance to get this 2.3.5 firmware for Samsung Galaxy GT I9003. if yes then by when.
yes Rajesh, its in the making and the same will be unveiled very soon!
I installed 2.3.5 XXJVS, rooted the phone and installed this fix still having troubles connecting wireless. It didn’t work. Did the same again but reset to factory, wiped all data from phone still not working. After each “boot”I did some tests. After update tot 2.3.5 wifi worked, but after rooting the device the problem starts. When I start WIFI it is there for a around 20-30 seconds and then is offline again.
As long as there is no fix, I am going back to 2.3.4
Hi, NeaL! Congrats for your great work here at AA.
I did as indicated and I am still experiencing sistematic WiFi connection/disconnection on Gingerbread 2.3.5 XXJVS. Any clue on why the patch did not work? I wiped the application cache before installing the fix files.
Thanks!
hey Elgui thanks for your support and trust on us, its a team work @ Android Advices! Do let us know if you need any help!
Are you on the default kernel or on any custom kernel!
Hello, NeaL!
I tried everything again from scratch, but it didn’t work. I am still facing the WiFi disconnection problem.
My phone has the following info: Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVS-CL565837se.infra@2SEP-73 #2.
I will be grateful if you could give me any support to correct this. Thank you in advance!
you are using the Wi Fi on which IP, dynamic or static?
I am using my WiFi at home. The phone aways get the same IP: 192.168.1.103. On the other hand, my wireless router/access point get a dinamic IP# from the Internet provider.
yes, its the same as the configuration is remembered by your phone
Hi, NeaL!
Unfortunately, critical problems with this release (Gingerbread 2.3.5 for Samsung Galaxy S). WiFi barely works, and now I realized that also 3G does not work well (I usually don’t use 3G, so that’s why I did not note this before).
Any chance to have a another fix released in the following days? Otherwise I am considering going back to 2.3.4 or even 2.3.3 (this one was the most stable for me). Thank you for your patience and efforts!
yes in the coming days a new update will arrive!
Updated to 2.3.5 and rooted. All successful. Wi-fi works on home network. Phone will not pick up on 3g coverage at all. What could be wrong?
check with the Netowrk configuration, ensure that its in WCDMA mode!
check with the Network configuration, ensure that its in WCDMA mode and not in GSM Mode!

Apparently the same issue has arised for the I9003 aswell. Since this issue has arrived with the 2.3.5 in general. I was wondering if there is any way that the Wifi Fix works for the current I9000 users and anyway that the same could be applied for I9003.
I had the same issue but it is working fine for me now. I was seeing 60secs dhcp requests to my wireless ap. I did a clean JVS install via ODIN. Used *2767*3855# to reset to factory default (including internal SD). Root it as per the instructions. Install the 2 wifi zip files in the order required. Install the custom ROM (your choice, I used HTCSense_for_SamsungGalaxyS_GTI9000). After rebooting, I returned to recovery mode and installed the 2 zip files again. That fixed the issue. I will be checking the wireless ap log file frequetly to ensure that it is fixed permanently. Otherwise I will revert to 2.3.4 again.
Hello Neal Pradeep,
I’m using Samsung infuse i997 and now having the same problem with Wifi, it goes on and off every 60seconds. In fact I can check my email, but with Youtube, Live TV or downloading, it’s interrupted all the times since I rooted my Infuse to Gingerbread 2.3.5, and GS1.1.9, would you please suggest the solution for it…. I’m frustrating

Jasmine, check with THE WIFI SLEEP SETTINGS!
It says cannot mount /sdcard
try removing the usb cable and then mount!
I did and still says so.
E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/command]
E:unkown vloume for path [/sdcard]
E:Can’t mount /sdcard
first you need to root the phone and then you need to follow the article as mentioned in the procedure too!
Is there a way to do this via Odin because CWM seems to be difficult
no, its not difficult as the procedure is mentioned above!
I already rooted my phone, I already tested apps that needs root and they all worked, still cannot done the procedure. Fuck this. I wanna reflash my phone to XXJVT since rooting XXJVS with this problem is killing my phone, so how do I root XXJVT? and does XXJVT rooted have this issues as well?
we have sent you the link, kindly refer the same!

Hi Neal,
I just installed your patch on my SGS with JVS. After installation the Wifi still disconnects about each minute.
My wifi router (TP LINK TL_WR1043ND) was set to assign a fixed IP to my SGS, I read in some post that it could be better to disable the address reservation on the router. I did not do it because it seemed me very strange. But now, after the depression caused by the unsuccessful fix, I tried and disabled the address reservation for the MAC of my phone. I can not belive but it seems to works, the SGS Wifi connection is stable since 15 minutes! Can someone explain why? Is it the fix+limeted time lease or only the second action?
Stefano
there are some issues with the Wi Fi! update with the XXJVT FIRMWARE OR WAIT FOR AN IMPROVED VERSION OF FIRMWARE IN THE FORM OF VALUE PACK!
Hi Neal,
I just installed your patch on my SGS with JVS. After installation the Wifi still disconnects about each minute.
My wifi router (TP LINK TL_WR1043ND) was set to assign a fixed IP to my SGS, I read in some post that \it could be better\ to disable the address reservation on the router.

CHECK WITH THE WIFI SETTINGS, IF ALL ARE OK THEN UPDATE WITH XXJVT! IF PROBLEM PERSISTS THEN YOU NEED TO WAIT FOR A NEW VERSION!
Hi Pradeep,
I followed your advice and installed JVT firmware. The situation is the same:
-If I enable on the wifi router \the address reservation\ so the router DHCP assigns a fixed IP to the mac of the SGS, the wifi connection is lost and then recovered about each minute.
-If I disable the address reservation for the MAC of the SGS so that the ip assigned to the SGS has a finite lease time the connection is stable.
The problem of the wifi disconnection is virtually solved because I do not have a real need to have a fixed IP. But I’m still curious. I never tried to disable the router address reservation before Neal fix to JVS firmware, I ought to came back to JVS an try without fix!
Stefano
Will it work for Galaxy S wifi 5.0 (YP-G70)? After upgrading to Gingerbread (XEKP2 2.3.5), the wifi signal became very poor comparing to its Froyo OS. I also searched XDA forum, the other ROM (2.3.5 XXKPF) got the similiar problem.
no it doesnt work for YP G70
The latest 2.3.6 JVU still the wifi problemhea
Try changing the route’rs lease from infinite to finite say 1 day or so. THis fixed my problem. Credits to O-T at XDA.
Thank you! That fixed the issue with WiFi disconnecting every 60 seconds.
I’m using 2.3.6 (XXJVU aka ValuePack)
Thank you as well! This fixed the wifi on/off issue I experienced on my Samsung GT-I9000 after the last update to XXJVT, firmware 2.3.6.
