I’m aware that there are instructions to update the firmware manually, but I’m simply trying to safely update my S2 from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5 but having the following problem. If anyone can shed any light and what I can try with Kies then I’d really appreciate it…

My phone (unlocked Galaxy S2 i9100) was 2.3.3 and I updated it successfully to 2.3.4 last year using Kies. My partner’s phone (exact same model but locked to T-Mobile) had 2.3.3 but wouldn’t update at that time.

I recently downloaded the latest version of Kies, plugged in my partner’s (2.3.3) phone, and immediately an update was detected. The update went without a hitch and now she’s enjoying 2.3.5.

I shut down and restarted Kies and plugged in my (2.3.4) phone, phone detected, but Kies is reporting that I have the latest firmware!!! Application or phone, the common denominator is certainly Samsung.

Does anyone know what the hell’s going on?

    Thanks in advance.
    Brendan

For your problem, I think this guide would be helpful

Close Samsung Kies and then connect your phone and select ‘Mass Storage’ mode
Next Mount USB via the notification bar.
Remove any corrupt files from the phones SD cards
      1. You can use this FileSearcherforKiesFix.zip to locate corrupt files
      2. Once found, navigate to the directory and remove them
      3. Research until none are found.
Unmount, disconnect and reconnect the phone
Open Kies and select the Kies option, it should now boot connect without any issues.

Recently, I have updated my SGSII with KG3 , post which if i connect my phone with laptop and open Kies, the kies gives a message that “This version of the Device can not be updated”
    Current Firmware Version: PDA:KG3 / PHONE:KG3 / CSC:KG3 (KOR)
now you are claiming this is an official version of KIES, if i update this release will i be able to sync with KIES?

    thanks

I have tried to connect my phone SGS2 to Kies all day and struggling to find the solutions, it doesn’t seem to connect. After plug in the USB to the phone, it seems connecting and then there’s box pop up to reconnect so I did it several times but still failed. Sometimes it also asked to connect in Samsung Kies (PC suite) mode not with USB mode. What does it mean??

I’ve done lots of search on the net with the helps/advice how to but none of them seems to work…any idea you might know what I should do? I know you can do it with Odin from unofficial release but that’ll be the last choice I’d go for to avoid resetting everything on the phone.

    Thanks.

Current firmware version: PDA:KI13 / PHONE:KI13 / CSC:KI13 (XEU). Thanks, but I don’t want to root my phone. It’s just quite funny to get an unofficial update using KIES. I wouldn’t copmlain if I have used a third party software, but KIES is THEIR program and it downloads the updates from THEIR server. Is everyone moron at Samsung to put an unofficial rom to be available? Now I can start using ODIN if I want to update in the future..
