Though we don’t have more than a dozen of handsets which have received the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update yet, there is the news of Android 4.0.4 minor update been released for the devices which have previously got the Android 4.0 update. Among the devices which are enjoying the Android 4.0 ICS are the Nexus S, Motorola Xoom WiFi and Galaxy S II, Galaxy Nexus comes by default Android 4.0.3. This is however first update to Samsung Galaxy Nexus since the launch in late October last year. Only Galaxy S II doesn’t qualify for this Android 4.0.4 update as of now and remaining others handset like Motorola Xoom and Nexus S along with Galaxy Nexus owners can now start the Android 4.0.4 ICS update today itself.
We see that Google has added more than a hundreds of improvements, tweaks and changes from the existing Android 4.0.3. I am sure the proud owners of Motorola Xoom, Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S would be happy to accept this update. The bigger and the noticeable feature with this update is the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) source tree and the top developers like CyanogenMod or others gets full access to the official tweaks and they can integrate those tweaks into their own custom built ROM’s. This means that Google Android is open for the general developers to come and work for a better Android development. Among the changes we can see faster screen auto rotation, better stability, improved battery life, better camera support and improved user experience over all.
