Galaxy Note N7000 – Steps to Update with Official Jellybean 4.1.1 XXLS2 Firmware

Galaxy NOTE RED LogoHere comes a delightful news for all Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 users as we just said couple of days back that we will be soon coming up with a detailed tutorial which will help you update with the latest yet Official Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware which is dubbed as XXLS2. Though this firmware is not yet rolled out officially all across the globe, this can be applied to your smart phablets by following a simple tutorial which we have summed up in this article. To keep things simple, we have splitted this article into two pages wherein in this page we have summed up the quick pre requisites you need to follow and then in the next page we have mentioned the detailed steps on how to apply this firmware update.

Note: This update is strictly for Galaxy note N7000 devices which are UNLOCKED.

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • It’s always better to backup all your precious data with the help of below mentioned steps manually so that if data gets erased / deleted, then the same can be restored. Don’t backup the data with the help of KIES or ROM Manager app.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log - Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”, enable the USB Debugging, ensure that the USB debugging option is ticked. Battery level should not be below 35% or else there is a risk of device getting turned off in the middle of firmware update. Also, all antivirus tools in your computer should be turned Off as these tools may interrupt the process of firmware update.

Disclaimer: Follow all the instructions mentioned in this article as if there is any damage caused due to not following instructions then we shall not be held liable or responsible. Just in case if you face any issues then we will try our level best to address the same.

  • Download Drivers for Galaxy Note from here. 32 bit (x86) Windows  |   64-bit (x64) Windows.  In the coming days to come, we will be coming up with a detailed guide which will help you to root your Galaxy Note N7000 on this XXLS2 Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware update. As of now there is no ETA on by when there will be an official roll out of Jellybean 4.2 / 4.1.2 will be happening.

So assuming that you are done with the above mentioned steps, you can now proceed to the next page where we have summed up a detailed tutorial on how to apply this firmware update.

  1. DANGER: Don’t proceed to the next step if the ID: COM Section doesn’t turn Yellow!…but no further advice on what to do if it doesnt turn yellow. does that mean get your coat and go home?

  5. Do i need root to install this update?

  6. I flashed my note with this update, but I’m going to go back to ICS for now. It was very buggy with the SMS (when you sent a message and it didn’t clear it from the textbox) which I found annoying. It was missing the photo editor, and there was added bloatware. No S Memo either. I did, however, like the sleek, clean look of it and the quick response of the screen. Hopefully another version of Jelly Bean will be release with these bugs fixed.

  7. When i try to extract the rar file (using winrar), i get errors: “file may be corrupt” and “unexpected end of archive” and the extracted file gets deleted. I tried extracting it with 7zip and i got the same errors but at least now the file is visible. Should i try installing this? Has anyone else faced this issue?
