Galaxy Tab : How to Find Software Version and Update Periodically

One thing I particularly liked about Google powered Android operating system is it gets updates very quickly. Once in a while you can update your tablet or Android phone at any point of time to the latest available versions and this makes your device updated with latest products launched in terms of softwares. Also updates are important because latest version of Android version supports various apps from Market than the older versions.

Moreover as observed in mobile phones, the newer version of Android provides more enhancements and features and the same trends will continue for tablets, so its makes users to have a go with the updates periodically. Also the battery life of your device increases with the latest firmware version. With so many advantages and nothing to lose for, you should install the updates on your Samsung Galaxy Tab whenever available.

Hi all. If you install Samsung Kies onto your computer and then connect the GT P1000 this will automatically check for updates and if available it will update your OS for you. Bear in mind that your Tablet has to be fully charged or it won’t do it, there are a few other necessities but can’t remember them but they let ya know before the update. Hope this helps.

I’m Using Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 (GT-P1000). Trying to follow the instructions as mentioned, i realize that there isn’t any options to choose at “About Device”. So there isn’t any option to update as well. i believe, this instructions are only meant for the 10 inch models.

I was hoping that this article would help me upgrade the OS of my galaxy tab, but the instructions you have given are not true for my model. I have the 7inch tab GT-P1000, in which “About Device” shows Firmware Version 2.2, Baseband Version P1000XXJMA, Kernel Version, and Build Number FROYO.XWJMI. About Device provides no option to update the OS.

My understanding is that Samsung is rolling out an upgrade from Froyo 2.2 to Gingerbread 2.3.x for this model country by country, and that the upgrade is somehow provided via samsung’s Kies software installed on your PC and to which you have synchronised your tab. I live in UK, and I’ve seen no sign of it yet. Have I understood the position correctly? Is there a version of this article that is correct for my tab model? Is there anything else I should be doing? Thanks for any information.
