By the Google’s flagship the Nexus one was launched in collaboration with HTC Corporation. It created a buzz when it was announced that Google is launching a phone, everyone was eager to see ‘Google Phone’. It added features like transcribe voice to text, dynamic noise suppression, voice navigation guidance and longer battery backup.

The Nexus One has 3.7 inches AMOLED capacitive touch screen with a screen size of 480 x 800 pixels. It provides a 100,000:1 contrast ratio and superfast 1ms response time. The display screen is very good enough and provides different viewing angles.
The physical button on this mobile phone are limited to volume rocker button on the left side and a power button on the top side and as usual the microUSB and other dock connectors are located at the bottom. The users have five home screen pages to work with.
Coming to the hardware parts like processor and chipset, it has 1 GH Scorpion processor and the QSD8250 Snapdragon chipset from Qualcomm. The graphical rendering in this mobile is done through the Adreno 200 GPU and it has 512 of RAM and ROM. The handset weighs only 100 grams without battery and 130 grams with battery.
The first released versions boards Android 2.1 Eclair operating system but the recent development of Nexus One includes the Android Gingerbread 2.3 operating system. Though Android Gingerbread makes the devices faster and it’s the latest development for Android, it makes it well capable with hardware.

The memory card can be expanded up to 32 GB in storage with the inbuilt microSD card slot and it also includes 190 MB of internal memory. The mobile phone includes data connectivity by various means. As it’s a 3G capable phone you can get internet connectivity through the faster 3G network HSDPA with speed of 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA with 2 Mbps speed. The Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g is must in today’s smartphone and includes GPRS with EDGE. Finally there is Bluetooth with A2DP. And finally there is 3.5 mm headset connectivity.
The Radio can be enabled but its factory locked by default and you have to unlock the device. It supports various audio formats like AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, MP3, MIDI, OGG, WAVE, Image formats like BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG and video formats like H.263, H.264, MPEG-4 SP.
The back side of the HTC Nexus One has a 5 megapixel camera with single LED flash. Yes, it’s possible to record videos but not the HD videos. Videos are recorded in the DVD format here with 20 fps. There is no sign of secondary camera on the mobile phone which means no provision for video calls.
The HTC Nexus One has 1400 mAh Lithium ion battery which provides a continuous music playback time of 20 hours. It can provide a standby time of 290 hours during 2G usages and 250 hours during 3G usage, the talk time included here is 10 hours and up to 7 hours in 3G usage.
I would say battery backup is very good considering that an Android phone doesn’t have much battery life.
The Nexus One was launched in various countries with tie up from the network provider. The device is also sold unlocked in various countries too. In USA it’s offered with T-Mobile USA and AT&T, whereas in Europe it’s offered through Vodafone and in Canada it supports various carriers. The unlocked version is priced at $ 515 as updated on July 2011.
The Google Nexus One mobile phone showed Google Android operating system to the users by reaching various countries and tied with various telecom operators. It made a big deal when it was announced and two-year down the line Nexus One is nowhere. Its successor version Nexus S 4G is released.
