Honor, the sub-brand of Huawei has launched quite a few smartphones with the dual camera setup. It all started with the Honor 6 Plus launched in 2015. Now, the newly launched Honor 8 Pro also packs a dual lens camera. Along with the Honor 8 Pro, the company also launched the mid-range Honor 6C smartphone. While the Honor 8 Pro is the same Honor V9 that was already on sale in China, the Honor 6C is the rebranded Huawei Enjoy 6S. The Honor 8 Pro is priced at £475 / €550 and is now available to pre-order. On the other hand, the Honor 6C costs €229 and will be on sale by the end of this month. As of now, the availability of these two devices is limited to European countries.
Honor 8 Pro
The Honor 8 Pro comes with a unibody metal design and sports a 2.5D curved glass on the front. There is a 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display offering a pixel density of 515 ppi. It includes the in-house Kirin 960 octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz and comes coupled with Mali G71 GPU. There is 6GB of RAM and 64GB of high-speed storage along with a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. On the rear, we can also find a circular fingerprint sensor that also supports gestures for opening notification panel and acts as a shutter button in the camera app. It runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.0 out of the box.
Apart from the flagship specifications, the USP of the device is its 12MP dual rear cameras that can record videos in 4K resolution. They come with an aperture of f/2.2 and supports laser autofocus. There is also an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies. It is backed by a 4000mAh non-removable battery that is rated to give up to 2 days of usage with the Smart Power mode. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE for making HD voice calls. Connectivity options include Cat.6 LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. The Honor 8 Pro measures 157 x 77.50 x 6.97 mm and weighs 184 grams.
Talking about the Honor 6C, it comes with less powerful specification than the Honor 6X and there is no dual camera setup. It sports a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display and there is a 2.5D curved glass laid on top. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage. Unlike the Honor 8 Pro, the Honor 6C runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based EMUI 4.1. It supports dual SIM dual standby with the hybrid SIM slot where the user can either opt for two SIM’s or a single SIM with MicroSD card.
It features a single 13 MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. For selfies, the Honor 6C includes a 5 MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture. The device is kept powered on by a 3,020mAh non-removable battery and supports 5V/2A fast charging. It will be available in Gold, Silver, and Gray color options. There is also fingerprint sensor on the rear that enhances the security of the Honor 6C.
