How To Update Samsung Galaxy Ace GT S5830 to Gingerbread 2.3.3 XXKPE Firmware


Galaxy Ace LogoAfter the recent update of Galaxy Ace GT S5830 to the latest version of XXKP9 as well as XXKP8 it has been found that not many of the users are happy with the bugs which have been turned up in this Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 version. Since these ROMs are of beta leaks few bugs here and there are being encountered. Also, additionally since there is no word on the official release of Gingerbread 2.3.3 for Samsung Galaxy Ace S 5830, the beta releases as well as the leak versions are here to serve you the taste of Gingerbread 2.3.3 for your phone. The new version of Gingerbread 2.3.3 is dubbed as XXKPE 2.3.3.

There are whole new changes with this firmware update and for all those who wanted to go back to the Froyo 2.2.1 version, this firmware comes as a great relief for all those. Please note that this is not an official ROM or release by Samsung but an official beta release leak from Samsung which is being offered to all the beta testers who work with Samsung. If your device has been rooted then you will have to again root Samsung Galaxy Ace as after rooting all the system files are refreshed. Once the firmware is updated successfully then you can again root Samsung Galaxy Ace . Though we couldn’t compile a whole list of enhancements or the improvements which comes with this firmware update few improvements are the enhanced battery life, better Wi Fi experience as the bug of frequent disconnection has now been fixed, the bluetooth too has been turned into stable as compared to the earlier’s unstable bluetooth XXKP9 and XXKP8 version.

Please note that, if your device has been rooted then you will have to again root Samsung Galaxy Ace as after rooting all the system files are refreshed and the root access gets revoked. So, let’s proceed and see on what are the pre upgrade instructions and the procedure to update Galaxy Ace with Gingerbread 2.3.3. We have insured that all the instructions are simple to understand even for the ones who are upgrading their phones for the first time.

    I find the message font to be a little blurr or in low pixels…
    the phone font is proper…the menus, music everything is fine…just the message fonts dont look appealing :(

    Thanks for the clearly explanation for installing of the new firmware.

    I have a little remark.

    My phone turned into the Russian language by starting and it took a while to found out to change it into my native language Dutch.

    2 little bugs maybe two apps are installed in Russian Samsung,apps and music store which cannot be uninstalled .

    My phone is working better as before.
    For example I couldn’t install Adobe flash player with the former firmware and now it has been installed correct.

    I am in UAE. Earlier, I had upgraded my Galaxy ACE to XXKP9 firmware. Now, based on your instructions, I have upgraded to XXKPE. During first flash, I don’t know why but, was not upgraded to new FW. However, I had repeated the process and done. PHONE IS WORKING BETTER THEN EARLIER.

    My personal experience is that as and when I am upgrading FW, my phone is starting with some different language (other than English). It is very difficult to change the language. Some how, after referring to the phone operating manual, I found the solution and changed the phone language. please fix this problem.

    I have one serious problem after upgarding my phone. It is regarding the application which were downloaded and installed from the Android market. I don’t have many application on my phone but, on the market it is showing that they are installed. Please advise, what to do to get all that application back from the market.

    Hi Neal,

    I hv upgraded my Galaxy ACE as per your given instructions. The same was achieved after flashing my mobile 2nd time. In first flash, the process was stucked, was waiting for @10 min. and job was not done. I don’t the reason as I followed all the instructions steps by steps. Any way, the job is done. I am happy with the improvement after this upgrade.

    One problem, as and when I am upgrading my mobile, the mobile restarts in some different language (other then english) and then lot of tensions. Some how, after reading the phone opertaing manual, I was able to change the language. Please fix this proble. The same was happened when I upgraded my mobile to XXKP9.

    Second problem, after upgradation, I lost my all applications which were downloaded from Android market. While trying to download again from the market, it shows that apk are already installed on mobile but, that is not the case. Please advise how to solve this problem. I had backed up my contacts before flashing and i got it back using KIES.

        i found some diffecult by checking the setting location bcz of the russian langauage and some time after selected the langauge. now mobile is working good with 2.3.3 Ginger. please kindly update any updates available in futue. But only one issue i am facing since from the Foroy and Ginger is Bluetooth connection in PC (windows 7) is not connecting, any soluction.

    I heard that 2.3 will have google with voice chat but, I found no change. Version 2.3 also has chat option only. Please advise how to get that option (google with voive).

    Another thing, after upgradation, I lost my all applications which i had downloaded from ANDROID MARKET. While trying again to download the same applications, MARKET shows that applications are already installed. Specify the other device. Please advise how to get all that application back on my mobile.

    I flashed to xxkp9. Meny actions and screen turn on are slow, + the phone is Russian by default so I have 3 Russian programs I can’t delete. Also I needed additional keyboard from market because its missing writing languages.

    I’m flashing to xxkpe or xxkph (2.3.4). If I don’t get Finnish writin lang to default keyboard and faster screen turn on I must find a Finnish froyo flash. Which I think is impossible, so I have to probby take this to shop if they can fix this.. F I wish I never flashed it.

    If sum1 finds a place with FIN froyo flash, I love you.

    DON’T FLASH ACE IF YOU ARE NOT RUSSIAN. my opinion.

    Just updated my Ace and feels so great. Battery life i thought would improve but still it is the same. UI is great but keypad was better in older version. Also one thing, I removed the SD card but when i inserted my card, all my apps was not visible. I had to reinstall all the apps again.

    Hi Neal,

    After upgrading my Galaxy Ace to XXKP9 and it went perfectly. I did noticed I had a 3G connection up all the time after the upgrade. It goes off when I turn on wifi, but every time I go out of wifi coverage my 3G connection fires up. I have disabled all background updating and syncing, but it just comes up – I have to turn of the “use packet data” to make it stop. I now upgraded to XXKPE about 10 minutes ago, but still have the same problem.

    Any ideas how I determine the process using the data connection?

    Hi,
    I updated my phone to 2.3.3 yesterday.
    Everything looked fine.
    No more random shutdowns and faster than ever:)

    Only thing that bothers me, my 3g wont turn on…
    I got all the settings from vodafone (Netherlands) and put them in.
    I think the 3g radio isnt installed?

    Checked all the settings, wifi is working but nog the 3g..

    Anyone else got this problem?

    Like to hear the solution:)

    Thanks, I did it, but the problem is that I want to move my files to SD from internal memory, and when I do any command on prompt like adb device or set pm InstallLocation 2 it gives me permission denied messages. what to do ?

      what are the apps you are unable to move as you are on 2.3.3 you should be able to move apps as since some apps are set by the developer so as to stay in phone, these can’t be moved. To move such apps you will have to root the phone!

    hi guys thanks so much for the update worked like a charm first time but the russian thing is a bit of a pain at first till i changed it to english and rooted the phine to remove the unwanted russian apps

    my main concern is the maps app and anything to do with it “navigation places etc” always crash on startup and will not work at all are there any plans to rectify this in future as the traffic layer is good for me as im a coach driver and it helps avoid bad traffic or do you know any other apps that can help me in this matter

    Just to make it clear, I made a research and for my type of cell phone it doesn´t work. Some people had updated with this european FW and the phone didn´t made any calls paste 30 sec´s . To make another call they needed to reboot the phone. I will wait the brazilian FW but will do the procedure above!!! TKS a lot!!

    I have sam galaxy ace I have updated it to 2.3.4 a europe vesion…now I am notable to open any internet related apps eg. Market
    g maps
    Utube
    Etc
    And iam not not able to sign in …..also
    a message is prompt ~~~~no network connection or unreliable network
    If some one has this problem or have solution oft his problem pls post what to do

    i hav just upgraded my phone to 2.3.3 it uesd to work fine b4 but hangs a lot now…i always hav 2 restart 2 get the original speed….also some useless apps hav come up( hangman, bookstore etc)….i just want to know can i again upgrade it again to 2.3.4 once i hav alrdy upgraded….pls help thnxx…..

    samsung galaxy ace with froyo is good but the battery sucks…waiting for official release for updates ti get gingerbread but why samsung is not taking the issue seriously….i think it will loose customers…pls release it faster…

    Firstly i want to thank you for this wonderful post on firmware update. I have couple of concerns that i would want to ask you and would appreciate if you could help me out. I have recently purchased GT S5380 with froyo 2.2. I am keen for upgrading to gingerbread 2.3.3

    1. You have mentioned here, that this release is not official, so is it safe for the firmware update from froyo 2.2 to 2.3.3 XXKPE?
    2. There were lot of concern on battery getting discharged soon, with the gingerbread. Has this been fixed with this release or with 2.3.4?
    3. You have another post for upgrading to 2.3.4. So is it better going here or going to 2.3.3 from froyo? Are there any compatibility issues with GT S5380 and 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 ?
    4. When i had connected my mobile to PC, Kies recomended firmware update. Should i be updating from Kies or should update as per your steps? I mean, are there any known problems updating form Kies ?
    5. Finally, if i need to go back to froyo 2.2 after the upgrade, is it possible ? Can you provide the steps?

      1. yes its safe if you follow each and every step,
      2. battery will be better than earlier version
      3. new version has arrived in the form of XWKPT @androidadvcies.com
      4. as long as Samsung doesn’t push the update, you wont get via KIES.
      5. Yes its possible to go back to 2.2!

    Hi Neal,

    My Ace has following baseband version S5830NEKP6, Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-perf-CL375596 root@DELL145 #1
    and build number GINGERBREAD.XWKPN. I have recently upgraded 2.2.1 to 2.3.3 using KIES . My friend bought a new ACe yesterday and thoud the build number and 2.3.3 are same but his keypad was awesome whereas mine is same as it was in froyo …his baseband version is different ( XXPH ).

    Can I also upgrade my phone to a different baseband version

      as of now there is no official update from kies, so you can update via kies and need to update manually by following the above insturctions!

        Thanks for your reply. I did not get you when you saying that i can update via kies as well as follow your steps.
        After Kies update, if About phone – Android version shows 2.3.4 and buildnumber shows Gingerbread DDKQ5, then i have got it updated through Kies correctly right?

        Secondly, if i update through Kies, do i need to clear the cache setting (in recovery mode) that you have mentioned as part of manual process.

    In that mobile I have a problem when i am giving voice input(By pressing Microphone button) in Messages typing mode option it shows, “Connection Error”.

    The error occur only in message voice input only. Other voice services like internet, google search,Gtalk are working well.

    How to solve message voice input error in Android 2.3.4.. please help me..
