Pre Upgrade instructions:

  • Ensure that you have created a backup of all the Contacts, Messages, Applications, Images, and Videos as in the due course of the firmware update your device will be completely wiped which will eventually erase all the things in your phone, though after creating the backup you can easily restore back all the contents including the Call log too.
  • Don’t forget to charge your Galaxy Tab (Wi Fi) to a minimum of 50% so as to facilitate smoother firmware update and also close all the softwares like KIES suite, Antivirus, firewalls etc. or else there is a high possibility that this may interfere the process of firmware update.
  • Ensure that your computer / laptop which runs on a XP, Vista or Windows 7 OS the firewall and other antivirus programs are disabled and also you should have admin privileges to download and install the software including the drivers and also along with this you will be requiring the USB port on your computer which supports USB 2.0.
  • Keep the USB cable as well as the Samsung Galaxy Tab Wi Fi P 1010 handy so that you can easily proceed to the firmware update process.

If your Galaxy Tab doesn’t turn on in the download mode then you will have to try again and then you will have to ensure that the download mode is turned on as shown below,
  • Enter into download Mode

  • So, after entering in the download mode successfully you will have to connect your device to the computer with the data cable and need to make sure that the ID:COM box glows yellow which means that all the device drivers are loaded successfully and you are ready to proceed for the rest of the steps ahead. You will have to enter in the options as mentioned below, Please note that apart from the below options don’t choose any other options.

PDA – P1010XWKC1-REV03-ALL-low-CL946441.tar.md5,

CSC – GT-P1010-MULTI-CSC-OXXKC1.tar.md5

ID COM Yellow

  • Now, as soon as the yellow light is turned ON, there you go you can now hit on the Start button after which you will have to wait for a while till the Green colored “PASS” box is not shown up which is shown below. It may take 3-5 minutes to show up this box which is shown below,
  • Odin PASS Box

  • That’s it, you will see that within a period of some time the firmware will be successfully updated in your Samsung Galaxy Tab WiFi P1010. Please note that in an unlikely event if you fail to update the software or some unusual error comes up then you will have to re follow the above procedure

Now, as soon as the update is applied into the phone, the phone will process the update at the final stage which will be shown just like the below mentioned screen as in the message box you will see the message as “PASS” which shows that the firmware update was successful. Since there is a cache memory of the previous firmware gets stored in the device, you will have to clear the same and which can be done by performing the full reset by dialing the short code *2767*3855# and then you will see that all the cache is cleared successfully. To check that version has been successfully updated or not you will have to type in the code as “*#1234#”. Dear All, I did follow a set of instructions pretty much like the set shown here, but provided by DroidAngel here is the link

And It did work flawlessly for me, I was coming from P1010XWKB4 which was the original setup of my GT-P1010 purchased in Colombia, I first tried out the P1010XWKB6 but soon enought found out problems with the onscreen keyboard, which didn´t work at all, then I tried out the P1010XWKB8 and voilá! Everything comes to life again and working just fine, I also did download the P1010XWKC1 but haven´t tried out yet, and by seeing your ordeal here, may won´t do it. This post is intended for helping persons in trouble here, the link I have provided is good at least to my knowledge, because I have tried myself on my own GT-P1010, otherwise I wouldn´t risk to tell you these things. Please do visit the link I´ve provided and make your own judge from it. Cheers to you all and “may the force be whit you”. Adolfo

How is cache cleared ? is is done using ODIN or using some fancy key sequence on the device?
Does XWKC1 work or not work for GT-P1010

I flashed P1010XXKB5 initially and got same endless loop ““Process stopped unexpectedly. Try again””
        and also some “swipe” process….

is my TAB also useless ??? at this point.. in my case, I couldnt continue using Chinese version with customised
        Chinese Search apps etc..

I live in hope, once I tryto flash it with XWKC1.

there’s also P1010XWKB8 “what does that offer” also European firmware March 2011

      • Reply tamerlouis May 21, 2011 at 6:56 pm

I followed the instruction step by step (using ROM XWKC1) and after the green color came on Odin, my tablet restarted in the recovery mode for seconds, then restarted again.

First screen appeared was to choose your language but on the top was this message:
        “Process stopped unexpectedly. Try again”

and the device rebooted automatically. going back to the language screen, booting in seconds and goes like that infinitely.

I even tried many ROMs from other sites for P1010 (wifi) and same problem is there.

Please help.. I am very frustrated

  23. Reply gderidet May 10, 2011 at 3:50 am

This is not very serious ! As mentioned on the other comment there is a mismatch between Wifi only (1010) and 1000 model.

“Now, as soon as the update is applied into the phone, the phone will process the update at the final stage which will be shown just like the below mentioned screen as in the message box you will see the message as “PASS” which shows that the firmware update was successful. Since there is a cache memory of the previous firmware gets stored in the device, you will have to clear the same and which can be done by performing the full reset by dialing the short code *2767*3855# and then you will see that all the cache is cleared successfully. If you encounter with any sorts of issues then do let us know so that we can solve the issues.”

Wazaa ? There is no phone on the 1010 !

Contrary of this not serious “advice” upgrading the system is always a very serious stuff. Do like me. Wait for the official update !

  24. Reply Ross May 5, 2011 at 7:54 pm

The upgrade process talks about “P1010 Galaxy Tab Wi Fi” model only but the instruction windows has GT-P1000 in the upper part of the window. Little confused ??? I have the GT-P1000 that i just recently upgraded to FROYO.XWJMK 2.2 and immediately started to have problems with aplications, i.e. can’t move/organize shortcuts icons, widgets will not stay in the center of the home screen,….etc.
Does anybody has any issues and how do I “downgrade” back to previous version?
