HTC One S is the next super phone after One X. Ever since One X has been updated to the Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 update from 4.0.3 as it came on the device pre installed. HTC One S users have been for this update since few weeks. HTC in an official statement has confirmed that it will receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update but it isn’t available right now.
Today an update has been confirmed for One S smart phone is seen with Android 4.0.4 with newly improved feature introducing HTC Sense 4.1 user interface. Head on to read the complete details. Moving from HTC Sense 4.0 to 4.1 you will just see tweaked menu button mainly and remaining other improvements might not be greatly visible to you.
The update file size is about 157 MB and this has been rolled via Over the Air update. Just like what we see in the HTC One X with Android 4.0.4 you can now customize and remap the multi-tasking key for better suite to your needs. Many users have made the long press on the menu button acting as the multi tasking. Going through this update, HTC has promised some performance enhancements and tweaks.
Improvements & Enhancements
HTC claims that they have fixed those ongoing bugs with One S smart phone ever since its launches and we don’t have a full changelog of the improvements included in this update. Though we have put up some of known improvements here –

How to Update One S with Android 4.0.4 OTA
HTC One S users who are updating it for the first time, they shouldn’t be much worried and should proceed with the update as the procedure is pretty simple. Just before you proceed with the updates, you should ensure the following pre requisites –
- Back up your Phone : Always prevention is better than cure and so taking backup by any ways that you know is advised. Follow the guide on back up SMS, Call logs, contacts and other content.
Connect to Wi Fi : As we already said that the update file size is of 157 MB, you should be connected to the Wi Fi to update your phone. On 3G or 4G LTE it will take time for the updates to be downloaded to your phone.
- Check the Battery Life: Ensure that you have enough battery on your phone. It’s advised to proceed with the update only when you have full charged your device or else you need to go through the battery calibration.
Now once you are ready with these steps you can request for the download of updates by going through Settings > About Phone > System Updates on your HTC One S phone. Tap on Check Now to connect to HTC servers. Once you get confirmation, start the download of the updates on your device and once download, you just need to tap on Install button to apply the download software package. This update is available in Germany and Denmark right now followed with other countries launches soon and also Jelly Bean update will be pretty soon available.
