After the HTC Desire 816 appeared, another device in the Desire series emerged online and Phonearena got to capture a few photos of this new device, the HTC Desire 516. The Desire 516 was just approved by the Chinese authorities, and thus we might be seeing this device officially, but for those who are keen about the HTC devices, this is one decent enough to check out.
Having a 5-inch qHD display and running the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the HTC Desire 516 is coming with the dimensions 140 x72 x 9.7 mm, and it isn’t real light because the weight of the device is 173gm. Having the TD-SCDMA connectivity as per the certification in China, it is said to be coming for the China Mobile network. The internal specs of the HTC Desire 516 include a 1.3 GHz quad-core CPU, 512MB of RAM, the 5-megapixel rear camera with flash and a VGA front-facing camera. Of course we aren’t much impressed with the low RAM.
For these basic specs, we expect the Desire 516 to be a pretty basic and budget handset. And as per the source, there are two variants to be available – the one which we detailed above, and second one having a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and running the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS. Another indication on this device being in the low range, is that HTC had mentioned that they would be concentrating on mid-to-low end devices this year, apart from the new HTC One 2014 edition which is yet to be announced.
The device doesn’t look really good in the photos leaked, but we are sure HTC will come up with a few color options for this. For now, these are the only details available and we would be updating soon when HTC makes this device official. Apart from this device, the new HTC One is expected to be announced by the end of March 2014, so you should be looking at that if you wanted something in the high-end range from HTC.
