HTC has recently released a mid-range smartphone in its Desire series called as HTC Desire 830 in its home country Taiwan. The smartphone comes with decent specifications like 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 13MP camera and is priced at $310. Today, the company has officially announced yet another mid-range smartphone in its Desire series called as HTC Desire 628 in Vietnam. The device was leaked several times in last few weeks and is the slightly toned down variant of the Desire 830.
Talking about the specifications, the HTC Desire 628 comes with a slightly smaller 5-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD IPS display when compared to the 5.5-inch 1080p display seen on the HTC Desire 830. Under the hood, it packs MediaTek MT6753 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with Mali-T720 GPU and 3GB of RAM for hassle free and smooth performance of the device. It supports dual sim dual standby with 4G-LTE and other basic connectivity options like 2G/3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB 2.0 port.
The smartphone looks exactly similar to the HTC Desire 830 and also includes dual front-facing stereo speakers with HTC BoomSound technology for enhanced sound experience. On the photography section, the device comes equipped with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front-facing shooter with a f/2.4 aperture for selfie clicks. Both the cameras are capable of recording videos in 1080p resolution at 30fps.
It has 32GB of built-in storage and also includes a microSD card slot for further expansion of memory upto 2TB. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based HTC Sense UI laid on top and will be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in near future. The handset packs a 2200mAh battery we feel is slightly underpowered to take you through the day on a single charge. The dimensions of the smartphone measure 146.9 x 70.9 x 8.19 mm and weighs around 142 grams. The pricing and availability details of the HTC Desire 628 are yet to be revealed by the company.
