I have the HTC Droid Incredible. I received an update for Gingerbread on 9/7/2011 and went ahead updated. I have lost all my pictures and videos on my SD card after the update. I also lost my music files but I think I can get them back from the Amazon website. Hopefully they are still there. I dismounted the SD card and Mounted again to see if that would fix the problem and did not. Also, I hooked the phone to my PC and tried to read the SD card from there and it shows nothing.

I have noticed decreased battery life and weaker signal strength. I did do the *228 update to see if it would improve, it did not.

Please let me know what I can do to retrive my photos. This is sickning and can’t believe that just happened. I did do a back up of my phone to my PC a couple of months ago. I should have backed up before the update.

    Thank you.

I had the exact same thing happen – this is really a horrible occurance, I had pictures and videos on there from years ago, in retrospect I really should have backed them up. The fact is, though, they’re gone now, through no fault of my own. Needless to say I’m pretty PO’d, not to mention deeply sad. Anyone out there know what to do for us??

    The instructions above state this
“Firstly, you will have to make sure that your phone is rooted and need to first download and install the ROM manager from the Android Market place.”

How do you make your phone rooted?

@neppah5 yes if you are on 2.2.1 then Gingerbread will be an OTA. If your manufacturer decides to power your device from 2.1 to 2.3 then you will not get OTA updates as 2.1 doesn’t have the feature to update OTA!

Isn’t Gingerbread an Over the air upgrade?
