HTC HD2 – Steps to Install Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS

HTC HD2 AndroidWhat if i say that you can install Android 2.3 Gingerbread on your HTC HD2 in simpler and in a shorter manner as many of us might agree with me that HTC HD2 has got a lame operating system that is Windows Mobile 6.0 version as the best part of this is due to the hardware of HTC HD2 you can install almost every android version ranging from Froyo to Gingerbread on your device. So, let’s proceed and check out how you can install the latest Gingerbread 2.3 version on HTC HD2. Thought the build is not a final one or 100% optimized one but is an AOSP build.

Procedure to install Gingerbread 2.3 on HTC HD2:

  • First of all you need to download the AOSP build file MDJ Android 2.3 Gingerbread AOSP Build for your HTC HD2 device and need to save the same on your desktop.
  • Now, you need to copy the Android folder into the root of your SD card. You need to copy the data.img file into the Android folder.
  • Now, you need to run the exe file with the name CLRXAD.exe on your HTC HD2 with the help of file explorer.
  • After running the exe file you will need to run the HARET.exe on your HTC HD2 device.

So within 10-15 minutes your HTC HD2 will boot up and there you go you can see that your device is now working on the Android’s Gingerbread operating system and not on lame Windows operating system 6.0. So, in just four simple steps to be precise you can easily install Gingerbread on your HTC HD2.

      Dear Ashok V,

      u r clearly mis-informed, i run Ultimate Droid 3.3 (2.3.3) build off nand on my hd2…
      Video recording works (800×480)!!
      720P video playback!!
      GPS works !!
Battery charges in less than 2 hrs and last for @least 30hrs (moderate usage)..
Internet connection/ Suto sync connects & remains on regardless of calls, sms or mms…
      Camera (5MP) works!!
Android is running off NAND and so i can unmount my sd card & re-mount whenever…

Get ur facts straight before criticizing…Ignorance is no excuse.

      • Todd says:

Well Voncrane, this comment thread isn’t about the Untimate Droid, it’s about this version of Gingerbread and everything he listed is valid. It doesn’t work. So unless you are running the ROM that this thread is about, then you shouldn’t call people ignorant. Sounds like you are the ignorant one who just came into a thread that you didn’t know about.

If 3 or 4, which file? I bought the phone from India.

After spent lot of time looking for good advice how to install Android on my HTC HD2 Tmobile Usa, happily I found this excellent site. I read several times the instructions and the comments and experience from other users in order to avoid any problem and frustration in case of no success. I am extremelly satisfied now with Android. I was scared when a file .7z was copied but I found how to unzipped and finally …very important…Install the application to keep DUAL applications WP6.5 and Android, because after restarting the phone , it always got WP instead of Android. Now my phone have the two systems.

    Hi,
I have followed the below steps

    - On computer, download and unzip indicated file – “MDJ Android 2.3 Gingerbread AOSP Build”
    – Connect Phone to Computer via USB, copy Android folder to root of SD-Card of Phone. I am not sure what does \root\ signify?
    – Copy one of data.img files (1024=T-Mobile_USA, 512=European) into phone’s Android folder. I copied 512 .img file as I have a phone I bought in India , unlocked
    – Detach USB connection (no longer needed) and when I see to run the files on my phone I don’t see ANDROID folder which I copied
    - I reconnect the phone to my PC and I see that the Android folder isn’t there.

    Please help me
