Update: A new pic, leaked via Twitter, show us exactly how the HTC’s flagship for this year, M9 looks like when compared to the One M8.
The next One could be sold as the One (M9), and it’s been reportedly codenamed Hima. The handset looks incredibly similar to the One (M8), a fact which has been made even more obvious by the image you can see above. This is a comparison shot, with the next generation phone on the left and its predecessor in the center.
The Hima looks quite a bit smaller than the One (M8. The corners are a bit more pronounced, and the bezels look as though they’ve been minimized. HTC has also changed the speaker grille a bit, and the forward-facing flash looks a touch larger as well.

According to sources, the One (M9) will feature a 2560 x 1440 QHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, 13-megapixel front-facing camera, 2,840mAh battery and Android 5.0 Lollipop. According to Bloomberg, the HTC One M9 will boast a 20-megapixel rear camera. That marks a departure from the so-called ultrapixel camera on the M8.
Earlier: HTC One M9 (Hima) Specifications leaked via Benchmark – Details
Date – Dec 30, 2014
An alleged Antutu benchmark for the rumored M9 (possibly called the HTC Hima) has surfaced. According to the AnTuTu benchmark, HTC’s newest phone will feature a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, Qualcomm’s octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor, a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 13-megapixel front-facing camera, 3GB of RAM and Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. Earlier leaks also suggested that the new device will have a 2,840 mAh battery although this benchmark does nothing to confirm or deny this rumour.
Earlier: HTC Hima (One M9) will be available in grey, silver, and gold colour variant – Report
Date – Dec 16,2014
According to @upleaks, the new HTC flagship handset Hima (One M9) will be available in three color variants: grey, silver, and gold. The One (M8) was also available in exactly the same color versions at launch, with others (i.e red and blue) introduced later on. @upleaks also says that he can “confirm” that the screen of the Hima is a 5-inch 1080p one, not a 5.2-inch or 5.5-inch one, as some rumors wanted us to believe.
The specs of the alleged new HTC phone were revealed by Upleaks on Twitter. It added that the rumored new phone was codenamed “Hima.”
Earlier: According to the post, the HTC One M9 or as @upleaks calls it, HTC Hima, will have Snapdragon 810 as its processor. It will have a 5-inch display with FHD resolution. It will also have a 13 megapixel or UltraPixel 4MP front camera on board, coupled with a 20.7 megapixel main camera.
In another tweet, it announced that HTC is currently working on the new RE Camera 2 which has the codename “GC2” but it is unlikely that the RE Camera will be launched with the new HTC Hima.
It will also allegedly come with 3GB of RAM and a VoLTE/CA/LTE connection. The phone is also likely to get a new Android 5.0 Lollipop update and Sense 7.0. It will also have a 2,840mAh battery, according to the leaked specs.
Another tweet from @upleaks adds that the new phone “will be coming to all major [carriers] in the US.” It said that the device is already being tested at these carriers’ laboratories.
Earlier: A report has appeared in China claiming to have details on the specs for the HTC One M9. We have already heard some substantial rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S6, Sony Xperia Z4 and Xiaomi Mi5 so far, and now it’s the turn of the HTC next flagship. According to the report, the One M9 will come with the feature a 5.5-inch display with a 2K/QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.
Report also claims it would be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset and 3GB RAM. The mention of Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 instead of the Snapdragon 810 does seem a bit weird as flagships are expected to use the Snapdragon 810 chip next year, and Qualcomm has already claimed that the chip will be ready for devices by early next year.
HTC will use 4MP UltraPixel sensor that was also used in One M8 flagship smartphone. According to the Chinese report, the One M9 would feature a 16MP rear camera with optical image stabilization. The One M9 will supposedly pack a 3500mAh capacity battery. One M9 will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
If the sources of the Chinese website are to be believed, HTC might drop the BoomSound branding on its next flagship smartphone. HTC has apparently partnered with premium Audio brand Bose for the audio on One M9.The report also mentions about a “Prime’ variant of the One M9. No other details regarding the model have been provided though. We had heard rumours about a One M8 Prime earlier this year that was allegedly going to feature a Snapdragon 805 chipset and a Quad-HD display.
HTC has started rolling out the Eye Experience with Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for its One (M8), for the users in India recently. HTC had brought the Eye Experience update with Android 4.4.4 for One (M8) in Europe, last month.
Last week, HTC had officially announced the Desire 620 in Taiwan.
