HTC SensationPreviously rumored as HTC Pyramid, the HTC Sensation is a complete multimedia super phone with a wide range of features. It was announced on April 22, 2011 and it was first launched by Vodafone in the European market on May 19, 2011. It was launched by T Mobiles in United States naming the device as HTC Sensation 4G on June 12, 2011.

HTC Sensation Design & Hardware

The design of HTC Sensation is a bit larger than its rival provider and it comes with 11.3 mm thickness. Yeah it’s thicker than other smartphones with the same price range but it still feel the comfort in hand.

Most impressive it has got 4.3 inches qHD capacitive touchscreen with 540 x 960 pixels clarity with multi touch input and Gorilla glass display. The pixel density is bigger than the Galaxy S2 and provides bigger 16: 9 ratio. Under the display at the top we find front facing camera, light sensor and in call speaker. At the bottom of the screen you can spot the four capacitive buttons. On the top you find power button and 3.5 mm audio hack and at the bottom battery release button. To remove or insert the SIM card you need to remove your battery first and then the rest. On the left side we have got volume navigation keys and just below that we have the microUSB port. The screen size is 126.1mm x 65.4mm x 11.3mm.

It has got 1.2 GHz dual core processor and the graphical is supported by Andreno 220 GPU with Qualcomm MSM 8260 Snapdragon chipset. Supporting with that we have 768 MB of RAM. It was the first mobile handset to sport a HTC Sense 3.0 use interface.

Its provided with 1 GB of internal memory but as always like other phones it can be expandable up to 32 GB in size using the standard microSD inbuilt card slot to store your media files. It weighs only 148 grams and wouldn’t be hard to carry.


HTC Sensation Software & Performance

The HTC Sensation runs on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and there is lot more which can be done through this handset.

When you come to connectivity options you get quad band GSM, tri band 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI port, microUSB connectivity and added DLNA technology. Added with a great web browser with flash and combination of big display with high pixel density would be ideal for the people for amazing browsing experience on go.

Its comes preloaded with Flashlight, HTC Hub, HTC Like, Music, Mirror, Friend Stream, Polaris Office, Teeter, Watch and Weather apps and the Watch app allows you to rent or buy your favorite movies and TV shows along with the streaming of it.


HTC Sensation Features

When you have so high-priced mobile handset, you would certainly look out for the features apart from having glance at the camera or the design.

Among the great features added to this mobile phone is the on-screen QWERTY layout keypad which is a very good text solution when you are in landscape mode for email apps and Gmail. All the widgets now has smooth 3D transition to the 7 home screen panes. The background can be standard wallpaper, clock or weather or photo album too.

The audio quality of this handset is great which is due to the SRS. The native video playback apps only supports the playback of mp4 videos but you can get apps from Marketplace and play all the formats. You can 3gp, 3g2, MP4, WMV, AVI, XVID video formats easily. Among the audio formats you can play AAC, AMR, OGG, M4A, MID, MP3, WAV and WMA video formats. The video recording is through 3GP and the audio recording is through the AMR format.

It’s loaded with sensors like Gyro sensor, G-Sensor, Digital compass, Proximity sensor & ambient light sensor. You can also tether your Wi-Fi incoming connection.


HTC Sensation Camera

HTC latest edition since few years are known for its camera quality and nevertheless the HTC Sensation on right on that. It has got impressive 8 mega pixel camera with auto focus and dual LED flash. It has got the other features like geo tagging, touch focus, image stabilization, face detection and instant capture. It has also got secondary VGA camera which is useful for 3G video calls and webcam. Yes, the latest smart phone capabilities demands, it can take videos at impressive 1080 p at a rate of 30 fps through the camera. Overall the HTC sensation camera is excellent except if you had the dedicated camera key that would have been the perfect.


HTC Sensation Battery Life

The HTC Sensation has got standard Lithium ion 1520 mAh battery which can offer standby time of 350 hours and up to 400 hours during 3G standby and up to 8.30 hours during the 2G and 6.5 hours during the 3G usage.


HTC Sensation Price

The HTC Sensation latest price is $ 549 off contract and it’s available on T Mobiles with a two years contract agreement including the voice and the data usage from T Mobiles priced at $ 199.99. For the people in UK and other European countries it’s available at the same price in contract with Vodafone.

Conclusion
With the launch of Samsung Galaxy S2, LG Optimus 2x and Motorola Atrix to an extent can put up a war against the HTC Sensation. Certainly it has its own pros and cons but it finally comes down to what you wanted to go with.

    I bought the HTC sensation…and then returned it two days later for a Samsung Galaxy S 4G. It couldn’t hold its own with wifi calling and the battery life was deplorable.
