Huawei has silently announced the Ascend G510 Android phone after having it on display at the CES 2013 event in Las Vegas. The phone didn’t receive a lot of appreciation and hype because of the other two devices that were launched by Huawei – The Huawei Ascend Mate and the Huawei Ascend D2. This is a phone with a 4.5 inch FWVGA IPS display, and some other decent specs though these are not at the level at par with the Ascend Mate or the Ascend D2.

Review of Huawei Ascend G510:
Externally, the looks pretty neat with the 9.9mm of thickness and the actual dimensions being 134 x 67 x 9.9mm, and the phone weighs around 150 gms. The screen resolution is quite low though for the 4.5 inch screen, at 854 x 480 pixels and the capacitive touch is pretty good and responsive. The Ascend G510 is internally powered by the Dual-core processor which clocks at 1.2GHz speed by the Mediatek MT6577 chipset and there is a support of 512MB of RAM along with it. The graphics are powered by a dedicated chipset which is Power VR SGX 531 graphics chipset included in the device.
The phone is coming with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, and there is the modified UI made by Huawei, named the Emotion UI which is a lot different and does really provide a better user experience with many options that get modified based on the users’ needs and the usage history. This is the same interface seen on the other two newly announced phones by Huawei.
The Ascend G510 has dual cameras, with the rear one having a 5 megapixel lens with Autofocus and assisted with a flash, while the front camera above the display is of 0.3 megapixel quality. We cannot expect anything exceptional and new in the Ascend G510 but it still has all the basic stuff that includes the sensors like the Proximity Sensor, Light Sensor and the Accelerometer in it, and the standard connectivity options like the Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 apart from the GPS. The phone has got dual mic, the primary one along with a secondary mic for the noise cancellation.
The Ascend G510 has got a battery capacity of 1700 mAh and that should be pretty fine for the display which is not so bright and battery draining, and the data network supported by the phone is HSPA with Downloads at 7.2 Mbps and Upload at 5.76 Mbps speed. The internal storage in the phone is 4GB, and the storage can be expanded using a MicroSD card. We haven’t got any information about the availability of the phone in the market, but there are a few sites showing that the price could be around $350 which is not an official one.
