Huawei launched the Honor 7 smartphone way back in June in China for $322. Today, the company has finally launched the high-end Honor 7 smartphone in India for Rs. 22,999. The device will be available in three variants – while the first one is a 16GB model with LTE, second with same storage but dual standby LTE and the third with higher storage space up to 64GB with dual standby LTE. As announced earlier, the Honor smartphones will also be available offline while Flipkart remains the exclusive online partner.
The company in an event also announced that Honor 4X has been a tremendous success with more than 10 million sales globally. If the Honor 7 is priced aggressively, we expect the company to reach its goal of selling 1.5-2 million smartphones before the end of this year simply.
The main highlight of the Honor 7 smartphone is the fingerprint sensor located on the rear side. The company claims that the fingerprint scanner is very fast and accurate it unlocks the device in just 0.5 seconds. The device also includes a unique feature called ‘Knuckle Screenshot’ taken by double tapping using your Knuckle. The Honor 7 also comes with an ‘Honor Smart Key’ a physical button that can be used for faster access to functions.
All the other specifications remain same on all the three variants. As earlier reported, these devices come with 5.2-inch Full HD (1920×1080) display with a pixel density of 423ppi. They are powered by the in-house 64-bit Kirin 935 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with Mali T628 GPU and 3GB of RAM. All three models support microSD card expansion.
The devices have a 20MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. Connectivity of the devices includes Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, and 4G LTE. All can be kept powered ON by a 3,100mAh battery; you can charge from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes. The devices run on Android 5.0 Lollipop-based EMUI 3.1 with planned upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in January 2016. It measures 143.2 x 71.9 x 8.5mm and weighs 157 grams.
