We know the fact that Android 4.0 update not only Sony Ericsson powered smartphones but for various handsets has been delayed by a long time but we can’t blame either the manufacturer or the Google Android team.
Among the first three devices to receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade from the Sony brand are the Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and Xperia Ray. With these updates now rolling out for the some of the European countries like Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Norway and other regions would receive this update with 4 to 6 weeks of time. This announcement comes from the Sony Team at their official blog page.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and Xperia Ray users have eagerly awaited for the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich since they have spotted Samsung Galaxy Nexus with features like brand new User interface, Face unlock, data usage, data limits, task switcher and new contact apps. Sony after their discontinued relationship with Ericsson has revealed that consumers who owns the above models and are looking for the updates, sorry that no over the air update will be available and users have to connect their smartphones to the PC and then run the companion test to get Android 4.0 upgrade.
Users can proceed with the below mentioned firmware upgrades procedures
Method 1: With Nordic Firmware
The easiest way to get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on your phone is to rebrand the Nordic firmware and to do that you need to register with the Wotan Server and then download the client to your PC. Once that is done, you need to proceed to flash your phone with the Generic Nordic firmware and this will cost you one time fee of €1.99 for flashing.
Once that is done you need to use the SEUS the PC flashing tool for the Sony phones to get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on your phone in the easiest way possible.
Method 2: Using FTF files
Using the PC companion tool you will flash your handset and this process is similar to those used for the Samsung Galaxy phones updates via Odin tool but the tool is different here altogether and needs general coding to be performed as well.
