How to Install APK files on Android devices using QR code

android logoMost of the Android phone users do not use any file manager program on the phone because they do not feel the need of using such applications and thus for them it becomes very difficult to install a non Market application from SD card. Mainly this happens when people use phone only for calling purpose and office usage, the applications like Adobe Reader, Quick Office, Android Gallery, Music application and video application gather information from SD card thus eliminating the need of a file manager on the phone. It is very true that the SD card can also be managed from computer by connecting via USB cable which again adds up in eliminating the need for a file manager on the phone. Also most of the people believe that using file manager can damage the file system on SD card and can affect the internal memory, so in order to save the phone they avoid using the file manager application. Sometimes newbie never realize the requirement of a file manager and they normally come up with a question on the forums like, “How do I install a non Market application .apk file on my phone”. So for this very reason a website is designed in order to install .apk file on Android devices using QR code. A QR code is normally a form of bar code which when decoded returns some sort of information. This website thus acts like a free online service to install .apk files onto an Android phone. Using the website is very simple and the idea is very innovative.

To use this service one needs to have the .apk file stored on his computer, bar code or QR code scanning program like Neo reader or QR droid installed on their Android phone and lastly working internet connection on computer and also on the Android phone. The following will explain how the service works and is used:

  • The website stores the .apk file onto their web space.
  • Generates the QR code for the application .apk file and is shown to the user.
  • Within fifteen minutes the user needs to scan the QR code and further follow the instructions on phone to install.

Three simple steps and the application will be installed on the phone. For much better understanding I have attached the screen shots, Check out the Screen shots below. The service is good and does what it is meant to do.
GoTo apkinstall.comBrowse .apk File and Select it
.apk File Upload BeginsQR Code is Generated
Scan QR code using Neo Reader or QR DroidOnce Scan is complete Hit Continue
Download of the .apk file beginsOnce Download is Complete click open the file
Select Install and done

QR Code Scanner:
To scan the QR code use Neo Reader or any other bar code scanning program. Neo Reader can be downloaded from the market or follow the link, simply scan the QR code by directing your Android phone camera to the code through the bar code / QR code scanning program.

Well people in case of hacking or hijacking events, take care that whenever you download an APK file make sure you download it from a trusted source, also if service is used then while installing the application kindly read the permissions that will be granted to that particular application, if you find the permissions can affect your privacy or may hijack your personal information then you can stop installing the application by pressing cancel.

even when the .apk file is downloaded from the android market,it does not work & can not install to android phone.
I have been a hectic pursuer for this but in vain.

They suggest to sent e mail and obtain direct download link, but even then the download does never complete. Suggest some panacea to overcome this sort of cumbersome activity.
I have samsung GT s 5830 with froyo version.

One more method for you to try, install in the following manner:

1.) Go To: on your computer.
2.) Sign in with your Google account which you used with Market application on your Samsung GT s 5830. You can find the Sign in option on the top right corner.
3.) Search for: Required application. example: Adobe Reader.
4.) Once application page is open click on INSTALL on the left side.
5.) If your phone is connected to internet then the application will be downloaded and automatically installed on your phone.

NOTE: Do not check the download progress again and again as it triggers the application download and thus the application keeps downloading again and again.

Another way to install non-market apps is to e-mail the .apk file to yourself at your gmail account. When you open the mail, you have the option to install the file directly from the e-mail: It downloads the file to the phone and installs it – same as if you had downloaded it from the Market. This apparently will work only via a gmail account because of the google framework – market and gmail are both google apps.

Users beware, this service has almost zero legitimate use. Make sure to check the app name, package name and permissions before you install anything this way. Software publishers have easier ways to distribute their apps, this service will only be used for hacking and pirating.
