How to Install Custom Recovery In HTC Rhodium – Tutorial

Over a period of next few days we will be checking out on what are the various custom ROM firmwares you can install in your device. Please note that once you root the device, the warranty will get void, the only way with which the warranty can be restored is by re applying with the official / original firmware which you can check from the path “Settings > About Phone”.

All the data in your device will have to be backed up, so with the help of below mentioned steps you can back up the same. You can alternatively backup all the data with the help of PC Suites so that you can then restore the same with a click of a button.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

Head over to the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”, enable the USB Debugging by selecting the appropriate option in your HTC Rhodium. After this, disable all the antivirus suites installed in your phone as these tools generally interrupt the process of firmware update.

From Google’s Android website, you will have to install the ADB in your computer as the device will be rooted in the ADB mode. Make sure that minimum battery level is more than 40% or else there is a risk of device getting turned Off in the middle of firmware update.

Procedure to Install Custom Recovery in HTC Rhodium:

  • Download the Recovery Image file from here to your computer and then place the same in “Platform-tools” folder which you will get in the “Android” folder in your computer.
  • Now assuming that you have installed all the required drivers installed in your computer, connect your phone to the computer and enter the below mentioned commands one by one,

Adb devices

Adb reboot bootloader

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

  • Now, once all the above mentioned commands are processed, the phone will be rebooted

Note: Just in a rare case if your HTC Rhodium device doesn’t boot up or say if it refuses to how up the home screen, then Long press the power button to turn it Off and follow all the above instructions again from the start.
