  6. C A Exton says:

Thanks a lot! Your instructions worked very well. I installed xylon_unofficial_galaxysmtd_2.1.zip and gapps_4.2.2_JDQ39.zip. Had to make the installations twice though (for some unknown reason).

  7. C A Exton says:

Perhaps I should explain exactly how I did it (or had to do it):
    1. First I went into recovery mode with the ROM Manager app and installed xylon_unofficial_galaxysmtd_2.1.zip and gapps_4.2.2_JDQ39.zip in that order. It was however after that impossible to reboot the device in normal mode. I just came back every time to recovery mode (with ROM Manager).
    2. I had to take out the battery to be able to go into recovery mode the “normal” way. I.e. by pressing the Volume Up Key + Menu Button and then press the Power button. Then I reinstalled xylon_unofficial_galaxysmtd_2.1.zip and rebooted the device. This time it was possible to start up in normal mode. Google apps were missing though.
    3. I went into recovery mode again and reinstalled gapps_4.2.2_JDQ39.zip.

Now I have a “new” Galaxy S phone.

Thank You! Very nice. I upgraded my ICS today with Jellybean. Initially, it got aborted at first attempt and succeeded in the second try. So far it is working fine last 5 hours.

Only GPS was not working properly. It is blinking, but not able to locate exactly. Hope this will work soon.
In gallery, my videos taken in ICS, are not able to play. If I notice any issues, will update again.

  10. Venkat says:

Videos are not at all playable :( Any solution? Is it only to me or does anyone has the same issue?

  16. DonJ says:

I tried to do the upgrade and bricked my phone.
Softbrick though – I can still bring up the download scree.
I was at first step, rooting it. Things were going well. All the file transfer was complete with Odin.
    But it froze up.
I messed with it but finally had to disconnect. After that I had the image of a phone and computer with the exclamation mark in a triangle between.
I can still bring up the download screen.
But now Odin will not see the phone. I can’t get a connection to Odin to upgrade the firmware.
Keis also says the device has no USB driver when I try to do an emergency firmware recovery.
    Anyone have a solution?
