Karbonn K9 Smart with 5″ Display & Indian Languages Support Launched at Rs. 3,990

The domestic smartphone manufacturer, Karbonn has today launched a new entry-level smartphone in its K9-series called as Karbonn K9 Smart in India. The K9 Smart is designed for those whom language is a barrier and allows the users to access the smartphone in their own regional language. The device is priced at Rs. 3,990 and will be available for purchase via both online and offline platforms across the country.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Shashin Devsare, Executive Director, Karbonn Mobiles said, “With the launch of K9 Smart, we aim to dissolve the language barrier that is one of the major impediments inhibiting Smartphone adoption amongst non-English speaking population. As per IAMAI, the local language user base grew 47% and touched 127 million in June. The growing consumption of local language content on mobile phones is a clear indicator of the need for vernacularising the Smartphone ecosystem for bridging the gaping digital divide. With K9 Smart launch we aim to bridge this divide by offering Indian users an affordable Smartphone device that offers access to their native language for ease of use thereby encouraging adoption.”

The K9 Smart comes equipped with a multi-lingual keypad with 21 languages support and allows the users to access various apps like YouTube, Whatsapp, Facebook and Google Maps in their own local language. The device also allows the users to update the contacts in 11 regional languages for easy search and understanding. The smartphone also gives the option to read the news, magazines on Newshunt and enjoy cricket commentary, live updates on CricBuzz in 6 different Indian languages keeping you updated with important information around the world.

Regarding specifications, the K9 Smart features a 5-inch (854×480 pixels) FWVGA display with 196ppi as pixel density and comes equipped with unspecified 1.2GHz dual-core processor for smooth user experience. The device comes with 512MB of RAM, 8GB of built-in storage and also includes a microSD card slot for further expansion upto 32GB. The handset supports dual sim dual standby and runs on older Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box.

On the camera section, the smartphone sports a 3.2MP rear camera with LED flash and a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calling and selfie images. It comes with basic connectivity options like 2G/3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB 2.0 port. The handset juices a 2300mAh battery that has the energy to last upto 7 hours of talk time and upto 240 hours of standby time. The dimensions of the device measure 144.7 x 74.1 x 10.1 mm weighs around 146.3 grams and comes in Black and White color options.
