i don’t see how kies could be called “amazing” when 9 times out of 10 it doesn’t detect my galaxy tab 8.9. all kies does is reinstall drivers but that doesn’t solve the problem. totally unreliable.

Sounds good in theory but I’ve tried on win7 64, vista 32, winXP 32 uninstalled, reinstalled a million times, also upgraded Kies whenever a new version is available. It just wont connect after I updated to ICS (via Kies). It was ok before the update when the phone was on gingerbread. It gives error msg “failed to retrieve device information”.

KIES FAIL TO CONNECT….Kies do not understand how to connect Gallaxy…. THE PC do recognize either of the two GALAXY by their model series… and the PC two of them attach the two GALAXY phones as removable DRIVES…. When you select the removable drive the PC message is insert a removable media… TOTAL CRAP KIES never connected and the PC refuses to open the Removable Drive folder on either of two GALAXY

Yet another Kies firmware upgrade and yet another connection/ driver problem!! In the last 8 months of various upgrades I only had one that worked correctly without it stuffing up. As a business person do you know how frustrating it is to plug your Galaxy s2 in to sync outlook contacts only to go out to a meeting and find that your whole contact list is gone!!! Do you know how embarrassing it is to have to tell a client the reason you didn’t call them to confirm the meeting place was because you didn’t have their phone number. Do you know how embarrassing it is to have to go through your log of phone contacts and call them to ‘guess’ which phone number belongs to the person you promissed you were going to call. Calling other people and having to ask who they are, and they are your clients and you are calling them!!!

Get it right Samsung or like many others on here, my next smart phone will be an iPhone! You take my money but do not provide a service that is equal to its value. You cost me time and credibility which costs my business money! After this being a repeated issue with upgrades you still make the same mistake. FIX IT! I suggest who feels the same posts this on their Facebook “Samsung Galaxy- Products/Services” page as well.

As others have said, I’ll be going back to my previous brand, Sony Ericsson, after this phone is done. I’d not buy a Samsung again due to the useless software and the equally useless support.

Just to add to my previous two posts. I also did a hard reset, on the advice of support and still my phone would not update. It would get so far, and then fail each time.

So then of course, I had to add all my contacts and apps back, as the hard reset was all for nothing.

Sorry, but I disagree with your comment “There is not one reason why you weren’t able to establish the connection successfully. Here in this article we will go through on how to fix those device connection errors.”

I’ll tell you why. About two weeks ago this exact same issue drove me crazy. I have been trying to update my Samsung Galaxy S2 (on the Bell network) and have been unsucessful.

I have been on customer serivce with both Bell and Samsung, and eventually after trying for two days I got the phone to connect. I didn’t do anything different to all the other hundred times I tried.

Finally after getting connected do you think I could update to ICS? No, of course not.

Back to support, to be told that I’d have to send my phone in for repair.

I doubt there is anything wrong with the phone, it’s the useless Kies software, and not being able to update over the air that’s the problem.

Kies has to be the worst piece of garbage I’ve seen foisted on an unsuspecting public. I was really looking forward to the Galaxy S3 but no way I’ll be upgrading to another Samsung after this disaster. I’ve done everything that various sites have suggested, repeated installs, hard resets… and Windows can see it fine but Kies is stuck looping with a USB connect/disconnect… forever. How can you seriously make a phone and not give a crap that it can’t reliably connect to a pc?

This is the damnest software and just after two days of using a samsung i wanted to go back to iphone + itunes. wasted more than 10 hours trying to figure out what is the problem.

KIES sucks and Samsung, no point making cool looking ads while you can’t even detect a samsung phone from samsung software.

    totally sucks…

  13. Reply Steve May 9, 2012 at 11:35 am

I agree with the other people here. The Kies software is a piece of shit. I’m a developer on IBM mainframes and if I wrote something as bad as this I would be out of a job. Sort it out Samsung. My Galaxy Note is going to be sold and I’ll be going back to an iPhone.

  14. Reply Lorri May 8, 2012 at 12:19 am

This has been driving me crazy too!

Two days and two different pc’s and a mac, and NONE of them will work!!!

Kies connects the phone on the mac, with the mac version of the software, and then says the phone is not compataible with kies updates!!!

I was a sony person for 12 years and just moved to samsung in feb… this is ridiculous.

Samsung support told me to hard reset my phone,,, but, I doubt that will make any difference whatsoever!

I just want to say this and I hope it gets to Samsung! Kies sucks!!! when I had my I-phone it was so easy dealing with i-Tuens
I hate Kies its so slow and backing up and syncing to the library is so bad!!
I used to connect my iphone to ituens everyday with Kies I hate to connect my Galaxy note every month knowing that I have to deal with a stuped software.
from use and experiance Samsung devices are fine but Kies is so bad.
I advice any who will get a samsung to rethink.

Android 4 to SG2 is now available. So I start with joy Kies app on my PC.
I have installed the new version as KIES suggested. Nice.
Then I connected my Samsung Galaxy S2 via USB and disappointment.
    Kies can not connect.
So I try after 20 minutes through WiFi, and again after 20 minutes via bluetooth, and nothing.

So much frustration, the questions “What is wrong with my PC?”, restarting the PC , searching for a solutions on the net, reinstalling the application and drivers, without any result.

I lost four hours of my life completely unnecessarily. And this is by some ignoramus who can not program the application that will communicate through the world’s most common standard protocols.

The worst part is that nobody feels responsible for it.

I am a systems administrator and I assume that one hour of my life is worth at least $ 60.

So I ask, how much does it cost if we count all this time that people in the world loses forever by this problem.

And what the hell happened with a great vision of the future world presented by Samsung.

In my opinion this small poroblem is the biggest reason why many people will choose the iPhone instead of Samsung.

    What a waste.

    • Reply Moe Sam April 7, 2012 at 8:12 pm

      I totally Agree with you
I will and I started advicing people to stick with I-phone. I did a huge mistake buying a samsung!!! bad service and bad support. I waste 4 hours of my life everytime I want to sync or do anything with my samsung galaxy note. I put android in responsibilty of this. they should have somthing like iTuens that we can use for all androids. And not let Samsung play with quality. If this keeps happening I wont be surprised if Android and samsung both lost market share for Apple who cares and have a great support.

      • Reply mcwong September 6, 2012 at 8:57 am

Maybe not a Samsung but there are plenty of other decent android phones out there with no issues connecting to a PC. Not necessary to consider the iPhone!!

I have the same problem and all these different solutions suggest you use the Samsung trouble shooting and thats a crock of shit . Still does not work I have tried every possible suggestion to no avail. The Samsung Kies application is the biggest waist of space I have seen. I have had my Samsung Galaxy s for 15 months now and I still have been unable to get Kies to work.

    • Reply Peter March 29, 2012 at 6:36 pm

Same problem here. Just wont connect, have tried the above many times.
Win7 can see and browse various folders but Kies is absolutely useless with my Galaxy S

I had the same problem with my galaxy tab that I purchased January this year, couldn’t find and issue so decided to send it back for a refund which is a shame because calling samsung and even the place I got it from couldn’t fix it. my opinion is either do what im doing and wait for Samsung to fix there bugs or if you dont need some of the application samsung has just buy an Ipad there is no price difference and at least the Ipad can sync with your computer only problem is that you cant watch different format videos

    • Reply Moe Sam April 7, 2012 at 8:14 pm

This is just a big shame on Samsung and Android. they want to grow by cheating ppl!!!
I will do my best to let the whole world know about useless devices of Samsung.

  22. Reply tb November 12, 2011 at 4:14 am

Samsung created the problem, they don’t offer solutions. Who offers an alternative solution – obviously a Android developer. Why don’t the corporations just hire them already?

The troubleshooting is the option by which the end users can do to fix that problem.

    Hi,

Thanks for the info on how to resolve KIES errors. However i have seen that even after re-installing the drivers the GS2 does not connect to KIES. It takes a lot of efforts to get it connected using KIES. Finally i had to disable my antivirus and it got connected. Once it was connected i enabled the antivirus and since then i haven’t faced any issues with connecting my GS2 to the PC using KIES.
Secondly, when i try to upgrade my firmware i am only able to download the firmware upgrade components. When the actual upgrade starts i get and error as “Firmware upgrade failed” and it gives some Windows error. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit system. Not sure whats the cause of this error. It would be great if you could suggest a solution for this. On searching various forums i found that there are many people who are facing this issue without any solution in sight for a long time.

    Your help would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Gokul
