Last year, LeEco entered the U.S market with a grand launch event by announcing wide-range of products including the smartphones, smart TV’s, and also an Android powered smart bike. However, the company later struggled with the lack of funds and is now said to be mainly focusing only on their home market. Apart from China; India and the U.S are the two main markets for LeEco. In India, the company is yet to announce new smartphones after launching the Le 2 and Le Max 2 in January last year.
Coming to the U.S, the LeEco launched the Le Pro3 and Le S3 smartphones with very aggressive pricing. Though the company never released any OTA updates in India in the last few months, just last month, LeEco updates their the U.S handsets with a new update that brings the app drawer. Unlike in India, the company is also selling their smartphones via offline stores in the U.S. Starting today; the devices can also be purchased from BrandsMart USA’s online and physical stores. In the next few weeks, the device will also be sold through Fry’s Electronics.
While few Best Buy stores already sell LeEco products, the number of stores will be increased in the coming months. Earlier this year, the devices are also made available through Target stores and Target.com. Apart from all these, the LeEco smartphones are also sold through Amazon and Red Pocket Mobile. The LeEco Le Pro3 is priced at $349 whereas the Le S2 costs just $199. While most of the other manufacturers are updating their flagship smartphones to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat, there is no timeline mentioned for LeEco smartphones.
The Le Pro3 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display and is powered by the Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor. It is the same processor that can also be found on LG G6 and HTC U Ultra. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage but lacks the MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. The device offers connectivity options like 4G LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type-C port. On the other hand, the Le S3 is the same Le 2 which as launched in India and China. It sports the same 5.5-inch Full HD display as seen on the Le Pro3.
However, it includes Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The Le S3 comes with a smaller 3,000mAh battery whereas the Le Pro3 is backed by a 4,070mAh battery. Both the devices come with a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. There is also a fingerprint sensor placed on the rear. The devices lack 3.5mm Audio port and come with in-house CDLA technology that offers lossless audio through the USB Type-C port.
