Lenovo announced the IdeaPad A1 Android tablet and it would be their second tablet in succession as they debut with Lenovo Thinkpad tablet in the tablet PC market. The announcement was by surprise to one and all the most surprising element of it being its price tag of just $ 199. That’s all you need to get attention in the crowded tablet market and they would have easily understood it with their debut tablet going flopped (ThinkPad is priced at $ 589).
After HP dropped their HP TouchPad and webOS, TouchPad is available at $ 99 and consumers went crazy, which signifies that users are ready to buy the tablet if they find it price affordable. Nevertheless, higher end tablets have their own advantages. Also interesting is the Android tablet market in India where you get Reliance 3G tablet for a price of just Rs 12,999 and to beat that we have Beetel Magiq tablet priced in four figure amount at Rs 9,999.
IdeaPad A1 Android tablet runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system rather than the Honeycomb that we see on the higher end tablets like Samsung Galaxy Tab, Motorola Xoom. Also inclusion of single core 1 GHz A8 processor could easily mean that the tablet isn’t meant for faster performance, still single core 1 GHz processor is faster enough. Coming to the screen the IdeaPad A1 has 7 inches IPS touch screen display with multi-touch input.
The most charming thing about this camera is it camera which has 3 mega pixel on the rear side as a main camera and 0.3 mega pixel on the front side. Though you can get just the VGA camera quality at 0.3 mega pixel but you can make video calls and video chat for free with so many video chat apps for Android.
For those who are looking for connectivity you can do it through inbuilt Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with your public WiFi network or the home network. Along with that it includes Bluetooth for easily wireless file transfer to and fro from various digital devices. The built-in audio and video player supports various playable formats like mp3, mp4, aac, wav, MPEG 4 & various other formats.
Apart from that it includes less minor features like 2 GB internal memory and if that is not enough it has a microSD card slot where in you can add up to 32 GB of extra memory. And the devices measures 0.47 thick and weighs 0.88 pounds. They certainly aren’t the slimmest but it is comfortable to hold in your hands and work.
The Ideapad tablet provides single source solution for your enterprise. Each IdeaPad tablet is shipped with one year base warranty and it can be extended up to three years. And for those who need personalization, the device will come in black, blue, white and pink and I would prefer to go with white edition one.
Lenovo IdeaPad Availability
The Lenovo IdeaPad A1 would be available through various stores in the mid and late September. At $ 199 it would be a much better deal.
