At the MWC 2017, LG launched the flagship LG G6 smartphone without the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC. Unlike its predecessor LG G5, the company hasn’t offered any modular features with the LG G6; it even removed the removable battery feature which is unique to LG, at least in the premium category. On the launch day, the company announced the device to go on sale starting March 10th, but that is only limited to its home country, South Korea. While the reliable leakster, Evan Blass already mentioned the device to be available in the U.S starting from April 7th, now he even got the proof. On the leaked press renders, the date is mentioned as April 7th, Friday and the time as 7:00.

In the South Korea, the device is retailing at KWR 899,800 won (approx $785 / Rs. 52,000). By the time LG G6 goes on sale, Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus with much better specifications and features. Even the company might start taking the pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 smartphones even before the LG G6 goes on sale in the U.S. The newly launched LG G6 misses the removable battery feature in order get the IP68 certification for water and dust resistant. The device sports a 5.7-inch OLED display with Quad HD resolution and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. Instead of the metal body, the device comes with a glass back body with a metal frame around it.
On the rear, the camera module features Gorilla Glass 4, and the body comes with the latest Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is powered by Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion upto 2TB. The device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with the customized LG UX 6.0 UI on top. Apart from the Google Pixel smartphones, the LG G6 is the first smartphone to come with built-in Google Assistant. The US variant of the LG G6 lacks the 32-bit Quad DAC for Hi-Fi audio. Instead, it comes with wireless charging feature. It is backed by a 3,300mAh battery and measures just 7.9mm thickness.
Talking about the dual camera setup on the rear, there is a 13MP sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer) 2.0 and another 13MP sensor with 125-degree wide-angle lens. The LG G6 also features a 5MP selfie camera on the front with an aperture of f/2.2 and 100-degree wide angle lens. Just below the rear camera, we can find the circular power button that also comes integrated with a fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS, A-GPS, 3.5mm Audio port, and USB Type-C 2.0. It comes in Ice Platinum, Mystic White, and Astro Black color options.
