Manual Update Galaxy ACE 2 I8160 with Official Jellybean 4.1.2 XXMC8 Firmware

Samsung Galaxy ACE 2 smartphone can now be updated with the latest version of Jellybean 4.1.2 firmware as an all new version of firmware. This all new version of firmware comes with many changes as it addresses all the issues related to heating issues and issues related to app crashes. This version of firmware is the official firmware update released by Samsung in European countries and being a very stable update we recommend you to update with the same. Please note that this firmware should not be applied to locked devices. This all new version of jellybean 4.1.2 firmware is dubbed as XXMC8. Many people are expecting an end of life for ACE 2 after this Jellybean update as it’s in the rumors that Galaxy ACE 3 will be launched very shortly.

Note: Applying this Jellybean Update won’t root the device / void the warranty in any manner. This is not a custom ROM firmware but is an Official firmware rolled out by Samsung.

Pre Requisites:

  • All the data in your device should be backed with the help of below mentioned steps. Don’t use KIES or any other tools for backing the data as it won’t help you restore the data.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Enable the USB Debugging Mode in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. Also, the minimum battery life should be a minimum of 40% or else there is a risk of device getting turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
