Note: Please note that this is the Official firmware released by Samsung and is not a beta or custom ROM firmware.

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • All the data in your Samsung Galaxy GRAND smartphone should be backed up with the help of below mentioned steps. Don’t backup with the help of KIES as it may not help you restore the data back.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging” enable the SUB Debugging Mode. Minimum charge left in your phone is 30% or else there is a risk of device getting turned off in the middle of firmware update increases which may even brick your Galaxy S3.

I posted the same query earlier, but from his reply it looks like the poster himself does not know.

The article seems to be a cut/paste of another tutorial.

It has no relation to the files actually obtained after extraction.

Loads every thing but gets in to boot loop and when I try to wipe factory deta it shows as dead

After extracting, We get the following files …

You have only said “Click on “PDA” tab in the Odin to select the tar file which you got after extracting”

Which tar file of the above ?
    What about baffin.pit ?

      July 19, 2013 at 12:13 pm

      boot is the one

      • Royce

        July 23, 2013 at 11:37 pm

Your tutorial is incomplete and does not match the files we get after extracting.

I am doubtful about your answer : Use the boot …md5 file in PDA ? are you sure ?

What to do with the other files ?

I don’t think you actually saw the extracted files ? Looks like you just ‘cut-pasted’ from an older tutorial.
