Galaxy S I9000

Manual Update Galaxy S GT I9000 with Stable & Fastest Jellybean 4.2.2 Firmware – Guide

Tired of your Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 smartphone as it has got mere 512MB of RAM, no need to worry as we will tell you on how you can install the latest Jellybean 4.2.2 Android without compromising on the speed. So, before proceeding to the detailed tutorial on how to apply with this firmware update, you will need to make sure that you have followed all the pre requisites which are mentioned below; Unfortunately, Samsung seems to be not pushing the ICS / Jellybean Android OS for Galaxy S I9000 smartphone due to legacy issues and 512MB RAM constraint. But all thanks to the custom ROM firmware makers who work harder to optimize latest OS for the legacy device.

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • All the data in your Galaxy S GT I9000 should be backed up with the help of below mentioned steps so as to make sure that just in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps,

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Enable the USB Debugging Mode in your computer from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. Also, the minimum battery life should be a minimum of 40% or else there is a risk of device getting turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
  • As this is a custom ROM, you need to make sure that your phone is rooted and installed with the custom recovery image. Just in case if your phone is not rooted, you need to root the same from the below mentioned steps;

Procedure to Update Galaxy S GT I9000 with XXJW4 Firmware

Procedure to Root Galaxy S GT I9000 on XXJW4 Firmware

  • Custom Recovery image can be installed from the “ROM Manager” app which you can download from PLAY Store. Do check on whether your device is rooted or not with the help of the “Root Checker” app.

    I personally used this custom rom for my samsung galaxy s GT-I9000 and found it so better then other roms. So Just try it only for specific above galaxy phone and you will that you will find new look, new applications, easy touch and fastest operating and smoothness. Thanks you the team who has arranged for us that custom rom. I appreciate their efforts. Thanks.

    I believe to take a screenshot you have to hold the power button and the volume down instead of the old main button and back button. I haven’t tried it yet, but I hope it works.
