Manual Update Galaxy S4 GT I9500 with Jellybean 4.3 Android OS – Guide

Samsung Galaxy S4 GT I9500 smartphone can now be updated with the Jellybean 4.3 Android OS which is based on the AOSP Model. Recently we saw on how you can update your device with the Jellybean 4.3 Google Edition in your Galaxy S4 I9505 model and in this article we will help you update with the Jellybean 4.3 in your Galaxy S4 I9500 variant. So, after checking out on what are the quick pre requisites, you will have to follow the procedure which will help you to update the device with this firmware update. Though the Google edition of Jellybean 4.3 is out for I9505 model, we will very soon be coming out for i9500 model as well.

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • All the data in your Galaxy S4 should be backed up with the help of below mentioned steps so as to make sure that just in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps,

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Enable the USB Debugging Mode in your computer from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. Also, the minimum battery life should be a minimum of 40% or else there is a risk of device getting turned Off in the middle of firmware update.

  • Make sure that you have rooted your device before proceeding to the firmware application process as this can only be applied to the rooted devices. To check on whether the device is rooted or not, you will have to make sure that the same has been checked with the help of “Root Checker” app.

      this is one of the stable builds and won;t Brick the device unless you don’t follow the instructions

    Dont use it – it seems it is not working for the GT I9500. If you have a blank screen get the 4.2.2 ROM and install it – it should work

    Link to root odin package seems to fit the 9505. Is there any suitable version for 9500?

    I apply this update to my S4 (i9500), all working fine, but after the reboot my phone doesn’t show anything, only the black screen appears. it is going in recovery & download mode but can’t start in normal mode.
    In the first para of page 2, you mentioned the two zip files were placing in the SD Card, but I dwnld only one file from the link provided by you.

    I downloaded the Jellybean 4.3 Android OS Firmware Package, and stored it in the sdcard as per the istructions, flashed it but the phone just won’t boot. Its not stuck in a boot loop, it just stays dead. Please help!
