Manual Update SONY Xperia S with Jellybean 4.2.2 Firmware – Guide

Procedure to Update SONY Xperia S with Jellybean 4.2.2 Firmware:

  • Before proceeding, you need to unlock the Bootloader in your SONY Xperia S and download the Paranoid Custom ROM firmware, Google Apps and Adb+fastboot in your computer. Once downloaded, you need to unzip the downloaded fastboot file to the desktop and extract the Parandroid Custom ROM firmware which contains the “boot.img” file and save the same in the fastboot files.
  • Now, connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable and then all you need to do is to just disconnect the device and power Off the Xperia S device
  • Press and Hold the Volume Up Key and simultaneously connect your phone to the computer with the help of original USB cable. Now, all you need to do is to open the fastboot folder and right click on the folder to select the “Open Command Window here” option in the context menu.
  • Open the Command prompt window to type in the below mentioned command,

  • If it shows the command as “fastboot devices xxx” then it means that you can proceed to the next step and if it mentioned as <waiting for device>, then you will need to disconnect the device from computer and install the ADB correctly again.
  • Now, type in the below mentioned command,

Fastboot flash boot boot.img

  • Now, disconnect the Xperia S from the computer and POWER ON. When you see the fastboot logo, continuously press and release the Volume Up key till you see the CWM based recovery.
  • In clockwork mod recovery, select the appropriate options to Wipe the data and reset the device. Now, head over to the advanced option to clear the Dalvik Cache as well.
  • Now, select the option of “install zip from sd card” to select the file of the Parandroid Custom ROM firmware zip package which you have placed in your phone and then select the Google Apps Package which you have placed in your phone.
  • Once the packages are successfully applied, you will see the message as “install from sd card complete” indicating that the firmware update process is done and then select the option of “go back” and select “reboot system now” for rebooting the device in the normal mode.

Note: Just in a rare case if the device is not updated and it gets into the boot loop mode, you need to again clear the cache from the recovery mode and retry the whole process from the start.
