Google Play Edition v2.0 ROM arrives for SONY Xperia Z smartphone and can be manually updated with the same. So, let’s check out on how you can install this Official Google PLAY Edition firmware in your XPERIA Z smartphone. This device is built from SONY’s Android Open Source Project and is 100% stable and ideal for daily usage.

Jellybean 4.3

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • Create a backup of all the data in your Xperia Z ONLY with the help of below mentioned steps. Kindly don’t use ROM Manager or any other tools like PC Companion etc. for creating the backup.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Enable the USB Debugging Mode in your computer from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. Make sure that your SONY Xperia Z is left with the minimum of 50% battery or else the device might just get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
  • Also, make sure that the MTP Mode is Disabled which can be done from the path “Settings > Xperia > Connectivity > USB Connection Mode” to select the MSC Mode and not the MTP Mode.

    and…
“Enable the USB Debugging Mode in your computer from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”.”

BUT, there’s no such menu… There’s only: Settings -> Apps. There’s only the list of apps, nothing else.

    Hi,

    There’s written:
“Boot the Xperia Z into recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together. The recovery mode will appear soon.”

But where is the “Home” button on this phone?! There’s only the Power and the Volume up/down!
