Milagrow M2 Pro 3G

Milagrow M2 Pro Tablet Review

We saw the hands on of the Milagrow M2 Pro few days ago, and we came back with the complete review as promised after using the device for few days. As you know, Milagrow is well known for making TabTops with USB host connectivity and also for its commercial robots and vacuum cleaners that help people on a daily basis making their life easier. Milagrow is an Indian firm, founded by Rajeev Karwal that is based in Gurgaon, India.

Design

Milagrow M2 Pro is a new inclusion in its tablet devices, and it is a 3G tablet that with 7.9 inch screen with a resolutions of 1024 x 768 giving a pixel density of 160 ppi. This resolution is not so good when compared to other tablets in the market with similar price range. The design of the device didn’t impress me as it is all plastic on the front and a metallic finish at the back. Although it is a tablet, it gives a bulky feel and comes with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

At the front end, the device has a 2 MP camera beside the earpiece and towards the right of the earpiece, there is a notification light. The volume rockers and power buttons are placed at the right side of the device and interestingly they are placed towards the bottom. Towards the back you can find the company’s branding at the bottom and at the top there is an 8 MP camera with a LED flash and nothing else can be found except the speaker grills at the bottom. There is also a reset hole on the back side, and the SIM and microSD card slot can be found on the right. On the Top, there is an HDMI port beside which it has a USB port and the regular 3.5 mm audio jack.

OS and Interface

The Milagrow M2 Pro runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box that is a bit disappointing considering that many devices in the market come with the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The User interface on the device is decent enough as you can add or delete applications on the home screen, and you also can add widgets to the home screen by tapping the Apps launcher and then Tab Widgets. Apart from the home screen, you also have an access to four other panels by sliding left or right in the home screen and these panels can also be customized. You can also change the wallpaper of the device from the settings by entering into the display interface and select the wallpaper from the Gallery.

The Milagrow M2 Pro supports many eBook formats like the PDF and for this you just need to tap on the e-book icon from the screen. Sadly part is that we were not able to read or type anything in sunlight, but it was good in indoor conditions.

Performance

The Milagrow M2 Pro used a Rockship processor but gave a good enough AnTuTu score of 19581. The Quadrant standard score was 5184 and Vellamo score was 1111 .Although the processor clocks at a speed of 1.6 GHz with four cores, the performance of the device is not that satisfactory. This processor is also coupled with 2 GB of RAM and also Mali-400 GPU to boost the performance levels.

Milagrow M2 Pro Benchmark scores

The M2 Pro is available in two variants 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage, and we are using a 32 GB model with us for review. The device also supports microSD card to extend the memory up to 64 GB and M2 Pro supports USB on-the-go and can mount hard drives of up to 2 TB.

We have tried playing some HD and FHD videos, but it was unsatisfactory as the videos were stuttering, and lags are found when the videos were moved forward in the timeline. The sound quality was good and loud enough.

Camera interface and Camera Samples

The 8 MP camera is not that good when compared to other cameras. The images were that not that good in the indoor conditions but decent enough in outdoor lightning. Below are the samples of the same in both indoor and outdoor conditions along with the camera app interface.

Connectivity

One important function of the tablet is that it will be supporting 3G connectivity and voice calls, and we did not find any issue in it. It also has Wi-Fi connectivity for wireless data accesses.

Battery

The Milagrow M2 Pro has a 4000 mAh battery on the back that took a long time to charge up completely and an on regular use it lasted up to 4-5 hours. This is pretty disappointing, in spite of having a 4000 mAh battery it could make up to 8 hours.

Storage

Since the device we are using is a 32 GB model, it has an available storage of 27 GB that can be extended up to 64 GB via microSD card slot. It also has USB OTG connectivity through which external drives are connected.

Final Verdict

This Milagrow M2 Pro tablet is not exactly up to mark, and the company has to work a lot on it as there are many other tablets having better featuring and also come at a lower price than this. The tablet has a lot of competition and moreover the camera, and few other features of the device have to be improved. Apart from that, the design, storage and interface of the device are decent enough.

There are many other tables in the similar price range that are far better like the iPad mini that comes for around Rs. 27,000 but it is available only in 16 GB model and more over microSD card slot is also not available. There is Google Nexus 7 (2013) also that comes with 3G and LTE connectivity and is priced at Rs. 28,000. Milagrow needs to higher its standards and deliver better tablets than, personally I would not like to recommend this tablet until and unless if pricing is a factor.
