Motorola Atrix 2 – Steps to Install Jellybean 4.1 Cyanogen Mod 10 Firmware
Cyanogen Mod 10 firmware update arrives for Motorola Atrix 2 smartphone and is called as the most stable custom ROM firmware which ropes in the latest Cyanogen mod 10 firmware update. This CM 10 built brings the joyful Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware update and all the Google Jellybean 4.1.1 Stock firmware apps. All thanks to XDA Forum Member wanggjghost and his team for bringing this awesome firmware. Unfortunately, there is no ETA on by when there will be an official Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware update for Motorola Atrix 2 and we don’t think Motorola will be coming up with this update any time soon. In the last article we saw on how you can root the Motorola Atrix 2 smartphone.
With the help of below mentioned steps back up the data with the help of below mentioned steps. Ensure that you are not backing up the data with the help of PC Suite as it won’t detect the device in the custom ROM firmware.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log - Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
Minimum charge left in the device should be more than 30% so as to make sure that your Atrix 2 device doesn’t get switch off in the process of firmware update. Disable all the antivirus tools in your device as it may interfere with the firmware update. Head over to the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”, enable the USB Debugging by selecting the appropriate option in your Motorola Atrix 2.

For applying this update, you will have to make sure that the device is rooted, to check whether your Motorola Atrix 2 device is rooted or not, you will have to download the “Root Checker” app from the PLAY Store. Once the device is rooted, you will have to download the “ROM Manager” app too from the Google PLAY Store.

Procedure to Update MOTOROLA Atrix 2 with Cyanogen Mod 10 Firmware:
- Download the Cyanogen mod 10 Firmware Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable and place the zip file in your phone.
- Once placed, disconnect the device and turn off the phone so that it can be entered in the recovery mode. The recovery mode in the Motorola Atrix 2 can entered by first turning ON the device and when you see the Red colored Motorola Logo you need to keep pressing the Volume Down button till the device enters in the recovery mode. Please note that you should not long press the Volume Down button.
- In recovery mode, select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the placed CM 10 Firmware package. Once the files are selected, it will take around 4 – 5minutes for applying the firmware update which can be tracked with the help of the progress bar.
Note: Just in a rare case if your Motorola Atrix 2 refuses to turn ON or say if it gets stuck on the Motorola Logo then you need to long press the power button to turn off the same or re insert the battery to start the process from the start.
- Once the firmware is applied, select “Go Back” with the help of Volume Keys and Power button to select the option of ”reboot system now” for rebooting the device in the normal mode. So there you go, you have now successfully updated your phone with the latest firmware of Cyanogen mod 10 firmware. Please note that it may take more than 5 – 6minutes for rebooting the device as it will have to finalize all the apps and settings before it boots up for the first time.
To check on whether the firmware is updated or not, navigate to the path “Settings > About Phone” where you can check out the current firmware version. Congratulations, you have now successfully applied the update of Cyanogen mod 10 Jellybean 4.1.1 firmware update.
