Motorola Defy – Install Gingerbread 2.3.7 with CyanogenMod 7.1 ROM

motorola-defyNow, the users of Motorola Defy phones can enjoy new features on their phones by updating them with the latest CyanogenMod 7.1.0 ROM. In the previous versions of CyanogenMod many burs were found, but most of them had fixed and a lot of new features added in this latest version.

New features in CyanogenMod 7.1.0 version:

  • Android 2.3.7 version added.
  • You will get Bluetooth mouse support in this version.
  • It includes a latest Superuser app.
  • You will see a lot of change in the photo recording feature as this version speed up the photo recording process.
  • Geolocation added to photo app.

Additionally, more number of features added in this version which improves the overall performance of the phone. First of all, in order to install this CyanogenMod, you need to root the phone otherwise you cannot update your phone.     I have followed the instructions of second method of upgrade, via recovery mode and install from SDcard and installation failed giving this error below:

    Install from sdcard…….
    Finding update package…
    Opening update package…
    Verifying update package…
    Failed to verify whole file signature…
    Signature verification failed….
    Installation aborted…..


    What I did wrong. For your info, i have a new purchased defy, with froyo 2.2 installed on it.

      there are some issues with the cm7 build! wait for a stable version!

    it seems as a latest version for Defy, great…
    May I ask it it is possible directly upgrade from 2.2 to 2.3.7 and eventually downgrade back?
