Motorola Droid BIONIC Gets Updated to 5.5.893 Firmware Version

Droid BIONIC LogoSo just as Motorola promised, an all-new featured Official update is here and based on the user feedback this time Motorola Inc. has delivered to the best as there’s a huge list of improvements which this update comes along. So, let’s quickly head to the list of things which have been improved below. This update is still not yet pushed and is just announced. This update will soon be rolling out for the users. The software update (Version 5.5.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US) includes numerous fixes and enhancements. We will soon be coming out with the beta version of ICS Android 4.0 firmware, so stay tuned for the same.

Enhancements & improvements in Droid BIONIC Update:
There are different enhancements and different improvements in different categories which are mentioned below.

  • Data connection stability has been increased,
  • Transition between 4G to Wi Fi latching time has been reduced,
  • Number of devices supported by Mobile hotspot is now 8,
  • “Data Roaming” pop-up message will now display once when roaming in CDMA internationally

Headsets & Bluetooth:

  • High Pitch tone has been eliminated which was heard sometimes when the wired headset was connected,
  • Media played on the device can be heard using the Bluetooth device

4G LTE SIM Card:

  • Improved activation speed of a new SIM card.
  • Improved ability, after changing SIM cards, to successfully log into social networking accounts and receive over the air software upgrades.

Phone Stability:

  • Reduced occurrence of random power cycles, including automatic power ups after power downs
  • Improved phone stability when connected to a Bluetooth® headset or HDMI cable
  • Corrected errors that required battery removal to recover from a frozen screen


  • Performance and Stability has been improved when using the Lapdock,
  • Frequency of “Low Memory” has been reduced,
  • Reduced instances where display would turn off during use


Phone calls

  • Lowered volume on the “Low Battery” alert tone while user is on a call

Apps and Widgets

  • Fixed errors to ensure contacts widget places calls to the appropriate contacts
  • Improved reliability of Messaging app to display the latest contact information
  • Apps can now be launched from the recent app group
  • Corrected issue that removed shortcut to an app after it had been moved to the SD card.

  1. Okay, so being a new Bionic user, I saw this update this morning and knew it was coming eventually and thought GREAT, it’s about time. So I went ahead and accepted the automatic download, but then saw this when I got to work to check out the list of bug fixes.

    So my question is……. have I now lost access to Root and is there anyway to get it back ? Thanks
