Motorola Droid X – Steps to Install Latest Clockwork Mod Recovery

  • Before proceeding, you first need to Root Motorola Droid X by following the corresponding instructions and then download Droid X Recovery Bootstrap APK file in your computer.
  • After this, connect the device to the computer and copy this apk file to your phone or alternatively you can also copy this Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap to the same folder as adb (the /platform-tools folder within the Android SDK folder).
  • If you have copied the apk file directly in your phone then disconnect the phone from the computer and open the app to just follow the on screen instructions to install the Clock Work Mod recovery.
  • If you have copied the file via adb then you need to open the terminal window in your computer to enter the below mentioned command.

adb push bootstrap- /system/app/

So, that’s it you have now successfully installed the Clock Work Mod recovery in your Motorola Droid X.     I’ve tried installing both the Droid X and the Droid 2 Bootstrap APK using just the phone, but to no avail. The phone immediately goes to the splash screen as soon as Superuser allows it to access root.

    Does the “install through ADB” method prove to be any more effective than installing the APK on the phone and running it?

    Help!! I just tried to update my droid x with a custom rom cyanogen 7.1. After following the instructions and rebooting the phone now the phone is blinking the motorola m logo over and over… I returned to the boot loader and all that says now is battery ok ok to program connect usb data cable. any ideas would really help. thanks

      remove the battery and reinsert to reapply the same!
