Motorola Razr & Razr Maxx in US gets Android 4.0 ICS Upgrade

Motorola is heavily criticized for not releasing the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade on time where its competitor did it. After all this show and Sony almost completing ICS upgrade schedule for all of their devices, Motorola turns towards the development and here comes the Android 4.0 ICS upgrade news for Motorola smart phones. These updates are been pushed to the users via OTA notifications and it will take approximately 20 to 70 minutes to download the ICS pack which depends on your network conditions. Additionally it will take 10 minutes to apply the updates once they are downloaded. The size of the upgrade file is 354 MB.

If you have received the OTA notifications then pull down the message and tap on upgrade to begin the process of upgradation. On the other site you should back up important files and documents present on your mobile phone as in this firmware upgrade everything would be lost.

To check for the update manually, you should make sure that Wi Fi is turned ON and you are been upgrading over the Wi Fi only. From the home screen you need to tap on Menu > Settings and then follow About Phone and tap on System updates. Now tap on Download to begin the process of upgrade. It will take a while for the files to be downloaded which depends on your network speed. The better internet you have the faster would be the downloading rate. Once done, tap on Install now button and the device would get power off and back on showing you’re the progress the bar icon. Tap on OK when software update is successful.
