The pure Honeycomb tablet i.e., the first Android Honeycomb Xoom tablet from the makers of Motorola has finally received the much awaited Android 4.0 update to all the Wi-Fi only tablet version of it. This update is only available for the United States users as of now and this will be rolled out to other international users very soon. This is the second devices so far to be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS, first being the Asus Transformer Prime TF201 which received update just before this update.
The Android 4.0 update is in demands due to the fact that it brings out serious features improvements and provides better user interface to the users. This update is equally applicable to both Smartphone and the tablet PCs and its one of the biggest update to Google powered Android operating system. It brings entirely a new look and feel to Android with simple layouts and delightful flourish of animations. Not only that there are various other features added in this update which make it a must have a go update.
These update is been released via OTA i.e., Over the Air and so you will receive a notification on your tablet, you can follow the instructions and can easily update the tablet or you can even try to update manually by going through Settings > About Tab > System update option and click on update. It will take atleast 10 minutes of your time and we recommend you to backup everything so that its not lost on your tablet.
The Motorola Xoom has never been the first choice of the customers due to its high price tag and I hope Android 4.0 update to it will bring attention from the users. Also along with that Xoom tablet with Wi-Fi is now available in UK at 249. 99 GBP from its earlier price at 299.99 GBP at Carphone Warehouse. Also we have spotted the price drop in first generation of Motorola Xoom tablets which I think is the right step to compete in the market. Though this update is for the United States, we expect that this update will be arriving other International countries along with United Kingdom within couple of days.
The 3G and 4G enable version of the Xoom tablet have to wait for a while for the Android ICS update. If you are eagerly awaiting the Android 4.0 update to your smartphone and tablet then do check this table to know whether your device is compatible for the update to Ice Cream Sandwich or not. And finally are you were able to update your tablet with Android 4.0?
