Nexus 4 vs Moto G Android Phone Comparison of Specs, Pricing

The Moto G is now the budget sensation in the Android range right now, but let’s not ignore the Nexus 4 from LG, which was the predecessor to the recently launched Nexus 5, and although the pricing is a little different, one shouldn’t ignore the Nexus 4 when they are considering to buy the Moto G. Let us compare two high end Android devices Nexus 4 and Moto G, today and find out which one is better on the performance, looking in to both the devices in detail.

Nexus 4 vs Moto G

Appearance and External Hardware

Nexus 4 is made of all glass and rubber, whereas the Moto G is made of the traditional old matte plastics used for phones but the back covers of the Moto G can be customized unlike the Nexus 4. But even after the customizations on the Moto G, I feel Nexus 4 is much better in the looks and feel because of its glass back and the rubber giving better grip. It doesn’t mean Moto G is bad, but if compared to Nexus 4, this LG device is a clear winner.

Display

The Nexus 4 has 4.7 inches display, 2 inch bigger than its opponent Moto G (4.5 inch) but we can notice that the Moto G gives more sharp and bright display and uses the Gorilla glass 3 protection which is stronger and more scratch resistant compared to the Nexus 4 that uses the older edition of the Gorilla Glass 2, since Moto G is a newer device and got benefited for getting up to date screen layer. So interms of the display Moto G is a clear winner here.

Internal Hardware

The Nexus 4’s have quad core Snapdragon S4 chipset powering the device, coupled with 2 GB of RAM and a Adreno 320 GPU, providing a powerful hardware to run applications and games smoothly on the Android platform. It is also helped with its multitasking capability for multiple tasks.

In terms of the Moto G, it has a Snapdragon 400 chipset, clocking at 1.2 GHz with four ARM Cortex A7 cores coupled with just 1 GB of RAM and Adreno 305 GPU which are built in for more power efficiency, unlike the Nexus 4 that is consider to be a powerful device.

In terms of the connectivity Nexus 4 supports pentaband 42 Mbps DC-HSDPA, giving you the fastest 3G browsing around the world, whereas the Moto G supports 21 Mbps speeds with different bands, depending on the models. The Moto G also lacks the NFC which can be seen on the Nexus 4. Both the devices come with 8 GB and 16 GB variants and run on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat. So even here the LG device gets an upper hand over its opposition.

Camera

In the camera region there are many other devices having better cameras in the market today, but the Nexus 4 has an 8 MP shooter on its rear and the Moto G has just a 5 MP camera and both have a 1.3 MP front camera. The Nexus 5 will be the winner here because of its higher megapixel count and the ability to capture pictures faster and giving better daylight shorts and supporting 1080p video.

Battery

Both the Nexus 4 and Moto G have similar battery of 2070 mAh and 2100 mAh respectively. Despite the similar battery’s the Moto G is a clear winner here giving better life compared to the Nexus 4, because of its lack of hardware when compared to the Nexus 4 which has a powerful internal hardware using more power. So the Moto G is the winner here because of its longer battery life, thanks to its CPU that is built in for power efficiency.

Price

The Nexus 4 device has been officially discontinued by Google because the Nexus 5 has taken its place, we don’t find a new device anywhere but u can get a used one for 200 Euros ($270.92) which is pretty high, where as the Moto G is quit cheaper coming at 100 Euros ($135.46) for the 8 GB variant and can be easily got in from the market.

Other than these feature, the Nexus 4 will be getting the updates quicker than the Moto G as it is a pure Android device but any how Nexus 4 is no more in the market but still consider powerful as any device in the market. However the LG has come up with the Nexus 5 which has better spec’s compared to its predecessor. Nexus 4 would be available via local deals who had stocked these up knowing the fact that Google won’t be listing it on the Play Store for a long time.
