Review: Wondershare Dr. Fone for Android to recover deleted files on Android Phone

Android OS works similarly to a PC operating system, where deleting files mean you can delete them, but also can try and recover them if you wish to, or if you mistakenly deleted those files on the device. But, there is no direct way of doing that. In Windows OS or Mac, you have a trash from where you can recover the files back if deleted, unless you have permanently deleted them. In Android OS, a file that is deleted, cannot be manually recovered any time, unless you are trying to use some software that does the job for you.

One of the tools that we suggest the smartphone users to try out for Android file recovery, is Wondershare
Dr. Fone for Android. The best thing about this software is, that using your computer, you can recover a lot of information, not limited to just pictures or documents.

What can Dr. Fone for Android recover?

Wondershare Dr. Fone feature

The software is capable of recovering files such as contacts, messages, photos, videos, audio files, documents, WhatsApp history, and call history as well.

There are a lot of scenarios when the data gets deleted or lost from the Android device, and one of them commonly is while installing a new ROM, or updating the software in the device. Frequently, contacts, pictures and videos and most of the internal storage content gets deleted automatically.

It seems, that the data deleted gets replaced by newer data if you continue using the device, so it is better to stop using it knowing that some data has disappeared and you want to recover it.

Finding the deleted files and recovering them isn’t a cumbersome task, as the user just needs to install the program for Windows or Mac, and then connect the Android smartphone to start finding the files. This will need the USB Debugging to be turned ON while connecting the smartphone to the PC.

Among a few good features of the software, one is that you can select which type of files are to be recovered. The user can choose to recover only one of the Audio files from the list, or a picture that was deleted among the hundred others that are not necessary. It is all under the control of the user.

Here’s what all you need to do, to recover the data from your Android phone.

  • First, you need to enable USB Debugging by going into the Developer settings
  • Connect the smartphone to the computer in which the Dr. Fone for Android is installed and ready to use
  • Wait for the software to recognise the phone, and then start the scan by pressing the “Next” button on the software screen
  • While the file recovery is going on, you don’t need to wait until the scan completes because the preview is available always
  • Also, while the scan is ON, you can pause it or stop it, if you find the file you wanted to recover

Do a multiple selection of the data from different categories, and tap on “Recover” so that whatever you chose, gets downloaded to the computer and you can access it from there.

Although the process might be complicated for the software, it isn’t for the user. We have used this only for testing and it works pretty well, but think whether you actually had something important that you deleted, and how this comes to the rescue without asking you to do anything hard.

You’ll need a computer to recover the data, because that is where the software gets installed. Dr. Fone has supporting tools for both, Windows and Mac OS. Download Wondershare Dr. Fone for Android from here. There’s a premium option to buy it, costing $59.95 and this works for five devices, the Personal Use License for one PC.
